    Hello all,

I'm after a bit of advice about what to do about a buyer on Amazon. I sold one of these but the Amazon description is slightly wrong. It's part of a 2CD set, and they have listed the tracks that are on both CDs, although the title definitely says "CD1" only. I put in my description the correct tracklisting (1st 4 tracks), and that it was CD1 of 2, to try and avoid confusion.

Anyway, I sold it nearly a month ago and I sent it out the next day. I've just looked at my feedback and see that the buyer has left me a 1/5 rating saying that I sent the wrong CD out - they wanted the 2nd part of the set. They didn't contact me directly (eg email) so I've only just seen it a few days after it was left and the feedback has a mobile number asking me to ring them as they're away from computer for a while.

Any advice about what to say? I'm not really very happy about the thought of having to speak to an aggy buyer over the phone, so I guess I'll end up offering them a refund on return. But I'm really not happy about it because it wasn't my fault. :(

    TIA :o

    Hi

I would start off by phoning Amazon's freephone number (Amazon Tel 0800 279 6620) and talk to one of the 'seller advisers'. Explain what you have told us above and ask for their advice. If the buyer has left their phone number in the feedback I would ask for that to be removed for their own privacy - don't forget feedback can be read by anyone.

    Hi

Does anyone know what charity shops do with their books after a period of time?

Do they just keep them for as long as it takes to sell them, or does there come a point when they will get rid of them to make way for 'new' stock?

    Donna

It does depend on the charity, most will have a policy of how long stock will go on the shelf for, as well as what sort of stock will go on the shelf, much of the donated stock will not even get to the shelf in many national shops due to policies of only clean, new looking and bestsellers only. The big national ones will send on unsold stock, and surplus stock that they just haven't got the shelf space for, to a central location where it is then sold to large dealers who specialise in 're-cycling'. Same with clothing too. I believe Priority Books have a contract with a national charity or 2 and that is where their pallets come from. I have in the past bought from such dealers and the books can be quite mixed, but if the price is right they can be worthwhile.

I have also dealt with other 're-cyclers' who have had contracts to empty council book banks and have had very mixed experiences with these. Often many books are soiled and badly damaged, and unless the dealer is prepared to sort these out I will not deal with them.

Though I have heard stories of skips outside oxfam, I have yet to see one.

Just remember, it's hard work and takes up a lot of space and time trying to make a living from amazon selling, and strangely enough lots more people are doing it and the prices/profits are falling as a result.

Bought some CDs to sell - one has case with broken hinges which I'd like to replace before listing. Thought I might try and swop it for one of my other CD covers. Not tried that before so anyone know if its fairly easy to do or have any hints/tips?

I think the tricky bit will be getting the bottom bit off that the CD sits in to take the back cover out.

I do this all the time - well I hand it over to DH and he takes the dud case apart and replaces it with bits from another case. It only takes him a couple of minutes and he seems to be able to do it while watching TV. Who says men can't multitask!

Thanks FFM. :) I called Amazon and they have removed the feedback. I also called the buyer and left a message asking them to return the CD for a refund.

The guy at Amazon advised me to submit a product update to correct their listing, and I've looked at the page, but I can't see how you can update the tracklisting? This is the only part that's actually wrong.

    Hi iieee,

if you go to the product page and scroll to the very bottom there's an option called something like 'update product info'. It gives options to correct a number of items depending on the media ie no of discs for a cd or format for a book etc.

You could add a second disc but I think they would have to add the track listings.

    Good luck
