My selling isn't going too good. I listed a lot of items last night, and then ended up buying more

I've bought too many books myself, I saw an add in the paper for hundreds and hundreds. I phoned up and the guy said 1000, so I bought them, it took 2 car loads (4x4 seats down - stacked to the roof) - I don't think he counted them - I dread to think how many there really were.

OH is fuming, I've got a garage piled high with books, a car still full of books, the shed is just about full (not allowed any more indoors now) - I have listed 350 ish, but I haven't made an impression on the stacks - I'm a very tired little monkey - think I'm going to have to put them on Ebay just to shift them - I need a shed like Soolin's.

Shed now full...I'm busy trying to persuade my OH that he doesn't really need to put his car in the garage.......

But that's the easy bit, you fill it with books first and then say 'oh dear, I didn't realise there were so many'.

It will only be a bit frosty until he gets used to it.

OH and I have now emptied the car, so that can now be used again. Not sure when we'll get the car back in the garage though.

This thread always cheers me up.

I have visions of lots of us all over the country busy hiding books where we think our partners won't notice them. My OH had the cheek to moan when he opened a kitchen cabinet and was hit in the eye with a book that I had balanced on the tea cups as I had a friend call round unexpectedly and had books everywhere that I had to tidy up. I also imagine us all hunting down lone 'Sean Beans' in charity shops, all furtive in high collared coats, comfortable shoes and most importantly good strong carrier bags to carry home our spoils.

How I would love to have an 'Amazon thread'' get together to see you all :T

Soo (hurriedly trying to edge a few stray books beneath the computer desk to join the little piles of books already hidden there last week.)

    Same here :j

It's a bit like an alcoholics anonymous club, instead of hiding bottles we hide books.

Nice to know that although I may be 'odd' I am not alone in my 'oddness'.

  • It's very scary to think how much space we'd fill if it was unlimited? a warehouse?....

I agree it's nice to come on here and confess our book dealings - I'm afraid that OH's wouldn't understand

Any 'treasures' amongst the latest bulk-buy funkyfunkymonkey? I hope so.

I stash books all over the house knowing DH will never find them. He never does any housework/cooking/tidying so why would he want to look in the cupboards:rotfl: ???? Then I recently collected a huge job-lot won on eBay for 99p. They were described as 'as new' which indeed they are and from a lovely clean home. But driving them home with the car windows shut I was nearly asphyxiated by the stench of damp/mould:eek:. It was a really cold and rainy day and I drove all the way home with the windows wide open.

I daren't bring them in the house so managed to stash most of them in the shed/garage(with a lot of juggling and bringing other books inside). I can't understand why they stink so much, they look perfect with no sign of damp/mould on them:confused: . There were a few possible gems among them though which I just had to bring inside to research/check values of. DH was going round the house for a couple of days sniffing and saying 'what's that terrible smell?' Luckily he wasn't curious enough to investigate too much. I told him it was an old dishcloth which I'd forgotten about under the sink:o . Seemed to satisfy him:rotfl:

Hi everyone, I posted a while back regarding how I had mistakenly sent the wrong book out to a buyer and how best to deal with it. Buyer had emailed me to say I had sent wrong book and that he was returning it and could I send correct one. In good faith I immediately sent out the correct book as it was my error after all, and also refunded some money to cover his return postage.

However, I still have not received the original book back. I have emailed him twice and not received any reply. Any advice on how best to deal with this? Thanks very much!

PS It is at least 3 weeks now since I sent the corrrect book out
