Kat, that's really great, thank you for that :T :A
One more question
Are they the kind of books that go to remainder bookshops - perfectly good and useable/readable but not *quite* hot?0 -

The books are a complete mixture. I don't know where he gets them from but it is the biggest mix of books I've ever seen. They are mostly used but also some new.
Books:
Plenty of fiction
A few student textbooks
Quite a lot of non-fiction
A couple of boxes were childrens books
I didn't notice any/many remainders
Only about 10 readers digests (4 of them sold actually!)
Lots of really old books, including leather binding ones
Just to give you an idea I would say about 15-20 books were in the amazon top 100 books.
So there really is a huge mixture. They are not remainder or returns, it looks like a lot of them come from charity shops as some have british heart foundation stickers on, but they can't all come from there because they wouldn't have gotten rid of for example a brand new copy of 'Freakonomics' or A brand new hardback of 'The queen at home' (which sold for £18 - and was my first sale).

Not that much I am afraid. I am a pro-merchant and I receive £2.26 for a 1p book (after fees). So it is possible to make between 30p - £1.66 on a 1p book depending on how much the postage is, but you also need to factor in the cost of packaging materials. If you are not pro-m then you will receive 86p less than the above.

Well ive only checked 2 boxes,
the first had 38 of which 8 were unsaleable, 3 due to being at 1p and several hundreds listed, 2 as as again they were 1p books AND the postage was such I would have made a loss. The last 3 were marked in some way and i didnt want the hassle of a complaint (chicken i know)
After listing the 30 books i totalled the amount received after fees but before postage, which came to £64+
The 2nd box had just under 30 and a brief look last night shows only 20 of them will be listed, the remainders were of good quality but too heavy for any profit.
Each box costs £4 and they are sourced from charity shops so its a real mix, the person i shared petrol costs with has had a £40 book in her lot so will get her money back if that one alone sells. I didnt personally meet Chris from priority but she said he was incredibly helpful and gave lots of advice and tips,
you can buy as much or as little as you like but at £4 per box its not going to break the bank to give it a go !!

PS i will invite chris over here maybe if he has enough time he will answer your questionsBow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0
