Hi Mishka,
guess you decided to give the bookselling another go? You did sound very fed up with it a few pages back but glad to see you are hanging in there. My sales are a bit patchy, had nothing for over a week and then 2 yesterday
That second one means I've now sold 100 items - mostly books and a few DVDs, videos and CDs   I've been selling for just over a year so that's an average of nearly 2 items a week. Not huge I know but I've never had more than 170-180 items listed so thats pretty good going I reckon. also sold about another 9 on GreenMet so all in all am pleased. Have very few 1p books so it all adds up. Have feedback of 23 at the mo so that does mean about 1 person in 4 leaves it on Amazon.....
Thanks to everyone for their advice and support, it makes a difference having somewhere to come and celebrate or moan with likeminded folks :T
Also shouldn't forget the selling fairy in my thanks:A
Good luck everyone

thanks Teapot,
i was VERY fed-up with sales and had decided to stop coming here and buying extra stock etc, but kept my current listings going, Then amazingly had a sudden turn around and sales have gone from 1 a week to 1 or 2 a day (nowt to do with me I have to say !)
Gave greenmet a go and sold 1(woo hoo !)
im sorry to come here and be a moaning minney to you guys, but like teapot says, its nice to have a moan and relieve the tension with people who 'get' how much it can effect you when you have no salesI have a new supply coming up and I am using it as a big push for sales and one final go at book selling,
TEAPOT,
Ive had nigh on 900 books for sale and only sold 40 on a good month so you are doing REALLY well, thanks for your support, ive sent the fairy your way

Hi Mish,
Glad to hear you're not giving in!
Sales here have slumped dramatically, from averaging almost 20 a day just over a month ago, today I have only sold 4! As this is a full time job to me, this could be quite disastrous, I had just reached 6000 listings last month, though they are badly in need of some heavy weeding!
The reason for the slump is not a mystery, I can put my finger on the exact problem. Listing! In the last month I have listed less than 40 books, in the preceeding month I had dropped from listing 2-300 a week to about 100 a week. I know that as soon as I get back into serious listing my sales will pick up. Though it does feel like being a hamster on a treadmill at times.
Good look with the new stock, as the more you list, the more you sell!

Just a quick question. I sold my first item about 2 weeks ago (video game.) I dispatched it via first class recorded delivery and this cost me £2.06 so i actually made a 7p loss on what amazon give for postage. I know this isnt alot but was just wondering if people on here bother with recorded delivery or just send it 1st class
Ive just sold my second item, another video game and am thinking should i risk sending it 1st class or make a little loss on postage and send it recorded againOffical MSE Fantasy League Member:beer:0 -
Hi, I know some of the 'hardcore' amazon sellers use a barcode scanner for listing in bulk.
Does anyone have any advice? Spotted this one on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-80mm-Long-Range-CCD-BARCODE-SCANNER-BAR-CODE-A16_W0QQitemZ170112330935QQihZ007QQcategoryZ14929QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
The guy seems to have sold quite a few. Seems a good price, i've heard others talk of £70-80 for scanners.
Thanks
G
ps - before anyone says, i'm not some Far Eastern ebay trader trying to boost my sales via moneysavingexpert.com!0 -

Hi
I've sold a couple of books in the past and need to start selling again soon if only to make room on my bookshelves!
Reading this I have a couple of questions.
How do people cope with holidays? I mean, if you go away for a day or a week and someone orders a book.....
I just ordered one on Amazon Marketplace and it said would despatch on the 21st. It was yesterday I ordered it, and that makes 4 days, is that ok now?
And a feedback question -- ok,it's as a buyer, but it seems relevant. Got a book yesterday, opened it, wrong book. Emailed the seller who I won't name, they said they'd refunded my money and that I could keep the book I got (which I don't want anyway and is a 1p book).
I looked at their feedback, 4.5 but yesterday someone left feedback complaining that they received the wrong book. Snap!
So, what would you leave as feedback?
Thanks

Sorry, ignore the going on holiday question. Duh!0

Hi Doug, you got there before me!
I'm a bit surprised that a Marketplace seller would say that they are dispatching on the 21st because it is *supposed* to be posted within 2 days.
As far as the feedback goes I think that I'd say something to the effect that there had been a snag and you were refunded - I have to say that if it was me that had mucked it up I'd have found the correct books from other sellers and put it all right.0 -
Thanks apprentice tycoon
Actually I may have a problem as I am away most weekends at dog agility shows. Looks like a major barrier as if it takes up to 3 days to get the holiday settings right....
