Hi everyone,
Been away on hols, back now. Hope you have all had lots of lovely sales!
My sales on play have been very good and amazon still going strong so I am happy at the moment.
Will be going it alone in just 6 weeks time!
I am looking forward to being my own boss but am also scared I won't make enough to pay the mortgage, it's good that I don't have to rely soley on amazon now and I am also looking into suppliers for gift and home items so I am not at the mercy of the book selling cycles through the year.

in my experience when i have sent something like a light book there is hardly any difference between postage to the uk and air mail
royal mail website might help you decide
I listed some of my items for Europe as well and it cost me less to send to Europe than it does within the UK
A paperback novel that costs me £1.52 to post in the UK cost me £1.34 airmail...how weird is that?

Ok, I shall take the plunge and sell to europe too. Have any of you had any problems with things not arriving?Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance....0

I've had some problems with France, not lost though just mega slow...However with a COP you are still covered up to £34 for loss in the post whether sent in the UK or overseas so just stick to that as a price limit on your books.

Just had a buyer ask to return a PC game as its 'playing fast'
Ive no idea what she is talking about but am i right to presume I have to offer a refund even if its not compatible ???
Does anyone have any clear cut guidelines (ie thou must ...) about where we stand selling 2nd hand stuff ?
TIA

Hi Mishka
The words from Amazon are here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=3149641
This is what it says:
Returns and Refunds
This page outlines the return and refunds policy for items purchased from third-party sellers on Amazon.co.uk Marketplace.
Contact your seller directly in the first instance if you have a problem with your Marketplace order or you would like to return an item to a Marketplace seller.
If you would like to return an item you purchased from Amazon.co.uk, please click here.
If you would like to return an item you purchased from Warehouse Deals, please click here.
Returns
If you receive an item different to what was described, or that is clearly in worse condition than indicated, please contact your seller and tell them what the problem is. You should be able to reach an amicable agreement with one another. If necessary, you can return the item to the seller for a refund. They will provide you with a return address.
To be eligible for a refund, you must return your item to your seller in the same condition you received it, and the return must be postmarked within one week of receipt. Postage charges for returning the item are borne by you. Find out more below on how your refund will be handled.
Note: items purchased from Amazon.co.uk Marketplace sellers need to be returned directly to the seller and not to Amazon.co.uk.
Refunds
Sellers can create full refunds for buyers, including original delivery costs. When you purchase an item via Amazon.co.uk Marketplace, Amazon Payments charges your credit/debit card and passes on payment--less a closing fee--to your seller. For you to secure a refund equivalent to your initial purchase price and delivery costs, your seller must request a refund via their own seller account on Amazon.co.uk.
In any case where a refund is necessary--such as when your seller is out of stock and cannot deliver, or when you return an item--it is the responsibility of the seller to request the refund. We provide sellers with instructions for how to initiate refunds. Refunds are typically processed within one week of the seller's request. The funds will be deposited back to your credit/debit card account, and Amazon.co.uk will send you confirmation of the refund via e-mail.
Personally I don't think it is particularly clear, but the distance selling rules say you can return things for a refund within 7 days (cooling off period).
I let buyers return items for a refund - that way I can't go wrong. If it simply because they changed their mind I try to avoid refunding the postage. Requests for returns are so few and far between that it's often easier to just do it. I think games, videos and discs are more problematic than books though.

Thanks FFM, thats what i couldnt find !
I am a bit narked at this one as it was sold as 'brand new still sealed', which it now no longer is so i've lost on postage and re-sale value, when its most likely the buyer has got it on the wrong setting !!
Still buyers always right and all that and as a pleasant change im getting a sale or two a dayso wont drown just yet
How is everyone else ??

Hi Foxybabe,
I post worldwide now and have had no problems (touchwood) regarding non delivery. I only post abroad items weighing under 400g though, that way I don't get caught out with the postage costs.
I have only had one very slow delivery (3 weeks!) and that was to The Netherlands, but the customer was wonderful and said not to worry as it happens all the time!!
Good luckAMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0033 come and join us :j make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the ebay and other auctions, car boot and jumble sales board0
