A lot depends I think on whether you have proof of posting - if you do then all is well - you have given a refund and Amazon will sort it out and you can claim money back from PO . I think the PO don't accept post as missing until 15 days though. You might like to try asking her to check at her local sorting office to make sure it isnt sitting waiting for her to collect it, though normally do this before giving refund.
Whatever happens it's a good idea to leave her feedback aolong the lines of "patient while delivery problems were sorted out " or something - it alerts other sellers to claims of non arrival - and if she is claiming that 2 havent arrived this might raise a few red warning flags.0 -
I have just started listing books and CDs on Amazon and had my first sale this morning. But, I think I have made an error in listing it. I followed to cheapest other CD and it sold for 35p. My profit after fees etc is 39p. Do I have to pay the postage on top of that, because if so, I will actually lose out! I don't mind not making much, but not being out of pocket. If this is the case, I am going to have to cancel the sale. If I do, will I still get charged the Amazon fees?
Hope someone can help me as I can't find the answers anywhere!
Many thanks

Hello Donna, welcome to the thread :hello:
I'm sorry that your first sale was a disappointment, it looks like you were priced too low to make it pay and yes, the postage comes out of the 39p and yes, you will lose money on the transaction.
It's a common mistake to go for the lowest price because you assume that everyone else knows what they are doing and you can't go wrong if you follow them but that's not the case, the low priced ones are either pro-merchants who get a part of the fees waived and would have made a profit on the sale or newbies that will get stung.
Items that aren't the lowest priced will still sell so don't dispair about raising your prices, buyers are often wary about the lowest ones because they assume that something will go wrong (if you cancel this sale this is a perfect example) and they feel more comfortable with a higher price and a good description from a seller that seems competant - so check the postage rates on the RM website, put up your prices and write a confident description and your next sale will be fine
If you cancel you'll get your fees back0 -

hi guys
a lady recently bought a book from me in the description i described in accurately but did not put that it didnt have a dustjacket forgetting as i am a fairly new seller however she has now left me neutral feedback stating that she was a little disappointed as the book didnt not have a dust jacket this has reduced my 100% to 92% over the last 30 days and 95% lifetime ratings is there anything i can do i would have offered her a refund partial refund whatever in preference to the feedback the book was fairly priced slightly underpriced if anything as i was naive at the time of listing
will the reduced % affect my sales can i offer her a refund and polite email and ask her to reconsider the feedback or can that not be done
feeling pretty glum as i try to be as honest and fair as possible both on amazon and ebay
thanks in advance guys

Hi Donna,
Firstly welcome to the thread !!
When you list items you are shown the amount you will receive, this is after all fees etc are taken off and your postage allowence is added. So this is when you can check its going to be financially worth while.
If your sold despatch now email says "amount due to seller - £0.39" then yes thats all you will get im afraid !
You can contact the buyer and issue a refund BUT they can still leave you feedback and potentially ruin your score. Your fees will be refunded aswell as if the sale never happened.
I personally would take this sale on the chin and have a loss, post it 2nd class and wrap it so its only a large letter and it will be 60p. At least you will have a sale under your belt and a (possible) positive feedback.
With cds the postage allowance is quite low so its harder to eek out a profit with the low value ones, ebay may be better for these.

Hi wilf, I think that you're stuck with the feedback as it was an error (don't worry we all make errors, you just make less of them with more experience).
You could try asking the buyer if she'd like a refund, then she may want to adjust her feedback, it can't make the situation any worse so it's worth a try.
If all else fails you can put a follow up comment on the feedback to say that it was an oversight, you offered a refund and you've checked your other listings for errors0 -

Wilf 55 contact your buyer and apologise, explaining it was a oversight on your part that it wasnt mentioned in the listing description, but do point out that the book was priced with this in mind. In this case i would offer a partial refund and test the water, as a goodwill gesture, or a full refund on return of the book and removal of feedback.
dont worry too much about your feedback, if she doesnt remove it you can add a reply that explains what happened,
good luck and hug to cheer you up

I've been selling on amazon for a while and when I started I used my 'personal' email account - the one I used to set up my amazon account when I started buying.
The trouble is a lot of different things go into this account and I'd like to keep sales emails seperate - however I think if I change the email I use for amazon it'll send emails for things I've bought there too.
Is that right? Wish I'd set up a seperate selling account when I started.

bad luck WILF55, I,ve just lost about 50p on a rather heavy book due to postage too, but I think I,ll just take it on the chin, dont want to risk bad feedback at this early stage , will make sure it doesnt happen again tho. I now dont have any 1p books listed either as I just wouldnt make a dime on them due to rises in postage:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o

Hi
Can anyone give me any advice as to what price I should ask for this book - 0304356492. There are no other copies on amazon and mine is new and mint (all the others are paperback whereas mine is hardback).
It originally cost £25 but it is now out of print.
Any ideas??0
