I have just logged into my Seller Account statement and my account is showing a Misc. Credit of £1.58 as shown below. Any idea what this would be for? I am not aware of anything that would explain this.

    Marketplace
    Payments Received £10.09
    Fees (includes applicable VAT) (£4.23)
Subscription Fees (includes applicable VAT) £0.00
Buyer Refunds (includes applicable VAT) £0.00

    Subtotal for Marketplace £5.86 £5.86

    Misc. Debits & Credits
    Misc. Credits £1.58

Subtotal for Misc. Debits & Credits £1.58 £1.58

    Current Balance £7.44

Can someone who has experience of both ebay and Marketplace tell me in your experience what books sell well on Ebay that don't sell on Amazon so well (and vice versa? Can anyone shed some light on this?
I've been selling on Amazon since November but have only ever bought on ebay as I felt that it takes more time to do the listing and sorting the payments on ebay - but I'm open to people's adivce

    Hi Mike

I can tell you my experience but still don't really know what sells well where.

I list just about anything on Amazon, it's quick to do and I have the space to sit and wait for a sale - costs me nothing to wait.

I only sell 1 particular book on Ebay 'cos I can buy it cheap on Amazon and resell at a rate of about 1 a day - it won't make me rich though. It's an easy income though because I don't have to keep writing a listing - waiting for payments is a pain though (only sometimes).

I am currently in the process of listing only 'new' or 'nearly new' books on Play - only sold 2 so far, so no real experience to speak of.

    Others will have different experiences.

Some weeks I sell more on ebay than on Amazon, but I am careful what I list on Ebay.

I do check out completed listings carefully not only for the exact title but for ones on a similar theme. 1st editions, signed copies etc can do well on ebay as can 'cult' type books or ones made into a film and released very recently (once the film gets out and known ebay gets swamped and movie tie ins no longer sell).

I also occasionally list the mega price books on ebay, but at a decent start price and I sell the odd £30 book. My 1p books and low ranked cheap books on Amazon also go on Greenmet, and I sell maybe 1 or 2 a month on there now as well.

I do have about 100+ books listed on ebay in my shop, compared with 6,000 on amazon, but tend to keep it to books that either in a particular genre, or unusual books that will return results due to keywords.

I also find that if the book is particularly graphic adding pictures on ebay will help the chance of it selling.

The other factor as well is books that are particularly large, and/or heavy you can set postage rates.

Yesterday I sold a copy of a book at 9.99 (inc postage) that I had on amazon for 4.99, which had been undercut to 94p. It had been languishing in my shop for 3 months though, but with shop listing fees being what they are that only amounted to 15p in listing fees.

I signed up to Plays pro-trader last week and it was activated yesterday so now I can list more than 100 books :j

Of course I have no idea if I will get many sales but its best to test it with all my books listed, so I am going to list every book that I have on amazon on play (assuming play have it in their catelogue). It's going to take a long time as I am doing it individually, I have no idea how their uploader works as there is no information on how to use it, if anyone knows please shed some light!

So far I have had 1 sale with 87 listed. I am now up to 115 listed, I'll let you all know how it goes when I have lots more books up there.
