By the way do GM send you an e-mail to let you know if you have sold something (fingers crossed) or do you have to keep checking in?
Am also having a look at RISI as A. Tycoon suggested.

  • Hi Magenta,

yes, you get a glorious email! you are then asked to post off by 2nd class within a few days and 7 days later the money is in your account to either spend on GM books or withdraw when it has amounted to £10 (I think!)

You can withdraw at any level A_T but they ask you to limit your withdrawals to a maximum of one per month if it's any amount below £10. :)

    Hi folks!

Hope you won't mind this post ... just have to yell about it to the world!

I have only ever sold bits and bobs on Amazon intermittently since 2004 to see if anyone wanted to pay to buy my unwanted stuff. So it has never been an income driven endeavour.

On last Monday and yesterday, I decided to sell 2 boxed DVD series that I no longer watch. Both sold within the day they were listed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Am still feeling a bit shocked by the speed they were sold. Wow!

Thanks everyone. Off my chest now!

  • help - I've sold two cds that are sampler versions not full albums - listed both as collectable but should I contact the buyers before posting to confirm they meant to order them, and how should I phrase that?

    Whoops!

As these are 'materially different' to the item you listed, which is against your amazon participation agreement, then you don't have a leg to stand on if the customers are unhappy.

I'd email the buyers to explain that they aren't full length and explain you did make this clear in the item description (which I hope you did), and if they are unhappy with this and hadn't noticed your comments (many customers do not read comments) you will refund them promptly. I wouldn't bother sending them out at all until you have heard back, and if they haven't got in touch my Tuesday I'd write them a letter. It is possible that they had read your description and are happy, but I think this unlikely unless it is a rare or collectible artist.

Be very carefull listing this sort of thing on amazon, as with uncorrected proof copies and promotional editions they are not permitted to be sold on amazon. If your listings for these are reported your listing will be closed, and possibly your account suspended.
