At last!! Two sales today. (it has been really quiet over the last couple of weeks) One of them is pending though. I have never had this before, what does it mean and how long can i expect to wait for payment.

I am also in the process of listing all my books on Play.com.

Many thanks to all of you who give advice on these threads. I would never have done it otherwise.
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance....

A pending sale usually means that a buyer has used a payment method that amazon cannot process. Whether this is an expired card or an incorrectly entered card number. The buyer would have been informed by amazon that this has happened and been instructed to access their account to correct this. Unfortunately as many buyers do not seem to access their email accounts that are registered with amazon they may not have received this message and will only be aware of this if they access their account and look at their recent purchases.

A pending sale remains pending for a total of 72hours if the buyer does nothing, and then will be relisted by amazon without your intervention. Previously this was not the case, unfortunately the pending email that amazon send does still state that one must manually relist if the sale does not go through.

A pending sale cannot leave feedback, so no need to worry about this.

Most pending sales do not turn into sales, but it is nice when they do.

Occasionally when amazon is having 'issues' even when the customer enters the correct card details they will not be accepted, though this is rare.

Good luck with your sales on Play, I still have only sold one!

    Life is full of surprises!

Had a VHS of Lord of the Dance - was sure I'd be stuck with it for ever - and just sold it at £1.50 above about 11 1p and several other cheaper ones!!!

    Thanks Easter Bunny!!!!!

Well done! Just think if they had bought off a 1p seller, unless they had a Royal Mail account, they would have lost money by posting it! It is now impossible for even pro-merchant sellers to sell videos at a penny for profit unless they have a postal discount! Many video sellers have yet to catch on to this, though your buyer may have been aware of this so chose not to buy off someone who may have realised the potential loss and then claimed to have lost the item or/and not sent it.

Oh I got my nifty spreadsheet to make sure of my profit margin LOL - though it doesn't factor in the envelopes & time and stuff as I am just selling my own stuff still..

As I - and others - have said on here - there are those buyers who wont even look at 1p books and just skim through to sensible pricing. More power to their elbow I say!!!

But you are spot on there rare-stuff ... I went through all my vids and books and made sure I got at least £1 profit when the postal prices went up. Nowadays I am looking to get £2 profit before I'll even list them!

well I,ve sold another one and I,m happy, looks like 1 a week ,which I think is good since I only have about 30 listed, and these are books which have been hanging about the house, or have been passed on to me. Todays was a readers digest" yesterdays Britain" which is really a good book to mull through, and was sorry to see go. Not quite got the idea have I !

  • I need a bit of advice about an expensive art book, I can't find it on Amazon but there is a copy on bookfider going for $250 in New York, how on earth do I sell a book like this, will ebay be OK or will it get lost in the crowd?

    OK,

5 minutes later I have found some more copies of this book and it seems that there are a few more selling for much less, ho hum....that's my retirement down the pan then...
