Thanks for the info. I suppose I will just have to pay the postage then. The £3.99 dvd won't be such a good bargain though.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

I have recently started selling books on Amazon, at the moment it's mainly my cousins and brothers books they wish to get rid of. I've received my 1st feedback and it was negative as they've not rec'd the book. Surely they could've emailed me or is there another way they could've informed me. To receive neg when I posted the book the next day is really bad. I have a form from the post to claim for the book. Do I refund the buyer now? I have withdrawn the funds.

contact the buyer explaining that you are sorry etc etc, suggest they put in an A-Z claim with amazon who should reimburse the buyer as you have proof of postage. Be sure to point this bit out to the buyer so they know the fault doesnt lie with you. Also ask them to confirm their address (dont tell them which one you sent it to !) to make sure the mistake isnt theirs
Also request that they remove / alter their feedback as this will reflect badly on you,

I have a taxing tax question,
With books that you have bought to read and are then selling on you dont pay tax, but is it better to include them in your calculations so they balance off the profit a bit ? (does that make sense??) or is this a big cheating no-no ?

Hi, has anyone sold anything through abe books? it is £17 per month for up to 500 books.
Many thanks
Hey Foxy, as no one on here has said they have experience of this, you could try asking on the 'seller connection' or 'help for new sellers' boards over on the Amazon website.Teapot

3 sales in2 days......:j
its been a bit quiet over the last few days.... soooooo really please.... ok one was 1p book...but hay its a sale....
i have some books which are listed but i have newer versions... exactly the same isbn.. but new covers...
could i list them... and just say new updated covers ?
as the inner info layout is exactly the same...
thanks.....
also got my son who's 12 showing me how to do spreadsheet.... so i now will be able to keep track on ebay and amazons sales.... on the computer instead of paper with lines lined on for sections.....in my files... lol.....
also.... when you do your accounts with amazon sales.... as amazon takes out their fee before you get your money... do you just write down the amount amazon give you ..or do you write the 2 lots of figures down... the one before amazon deductions..... and then the amount you actually get...
as i have just been putting down the final amount...i get off amazon.... and then just put the postage costs against the sale......
hope that makes sense....Work to live= not live to work0 -

Hi CTC
I do things even more basic than that. I record my fortnightly payments from Amazon as a total and then offset my purchases such as stamps, envelopes, purchased books.
I don't break things down to individual books. If the taxman does want to see more detail I could show him the breakdown in Amazon's system, but I don't think he wants to know it all book by book.
Interested to know how everyone else does it.
