Having had over a week of no sales I had 2 yesterday, took them to the post office today and one was just over the 1kg rate - really cross with myself as I know I weighed the book when I got it and I'm always so careful when I get a book to check postage costs etc. Anyway i'm taking it home and will try and repackage tonight - don't know if it'll make a difference but the cost of postage is a big difference. Annoyed as it's probably the first time I've been shocked by postage costs.

m4rky - my advice is definently to weigh everything and check on royal mails website - at least when you first start out so you have an idea of weights and postage costs - although like me you'll always get caught out sometimes.

I done this today too , was sure the book I sold was large letter, lady in P.O. didnt even check just said £1.70, and I was sooo tired this morning I just paid up, this will NOT happen again:mad: had I paid money for book or jiffy bag I,d be seriously out of pocket

Just been browsing my open listings (seeing what I can do to get a sale;) ) and have noticed that on one of them, 12 out of 17 of the books for sale are by the same person? Do Amazon allow this, I had a feeling you're not supposed to do it? The book description is the same, just a different price for each one:confused:

It's called 'page hogging', send an email titled 'page hogging' with a link to the item and the sellers name to sentinel@amazon.co.uk and Amazon will delist them - usually within a day or two.

This should make you laugh - I reported this book for page hogging on Sunday http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/tg/detail/offer-listing/-/1846051614/used/ref=sdp_used/203-2824282-7539960

There were over 100 copies being offered at various prices and conditions by one seller, they have been delisted. I didn't expect to get my way on this one the seller was none other than http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/seller/at-a-glance.html/ref=olp_offerlisting_3/026-0080127-1053250?ie=UTF8&asin=1846051614&marketplaceSeller=1&seller=A2OAJ7377F756P for anyone that doesn't know this is Amazon's own marketplace 'branch' where they sell off their returns.

Worth keeping an eye on any bargains - but check out the feedback - 'fraudsters', 'should be removed from Amazon' ... :rotfl: and we worry about our feedback.

What do you amazon seller vets make of this:

I came across 3 copies of this book in a charity shop today, which is doing 3 for £1 or something on hardbacks: X3 by Gary Braunbeck

On the plus side it is listed at £12+ used, on the negative side there are no sales in the ranking info. I am thinking about buying all three copies and listing them at £8-£10 each.

How have you approached this idea before? Are there any other good indicators of a book's desireability on the web other than amazon and ebay etc?
"I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."
  • If space is not an issue then buy all 3 copies and be prepared for a possible wait.

Don't undercut the Americans because their repricing software will pull their price down.
