Hello all. Welcome to the new thread!

I've just had a read through the last pages of the old thread and thought some of the suggestions on THIS POST might be useful to carry over here.

I haven't sold anything on Amazon for ages but I only sell my own books so don't really have any 'new' stock to add on. I've made the odd sale on www.greenmetropolis.com and swap any penny books on www.readitswapit.co.uk for more penny books usually!

    Happy book selling all. :)

I just picked up my box of books from the auction, it's not looking good. I'm sure there are some books missing as well from when I viewed, but I can't be 100% sure.

The books looked a lot better on viewing day, but I think I was so desperate to add more stock i may well have bought against my usual instincts.

BTW, does anyone have any tips for getting rid of Ladybird books...I seem to have ended up with quite a few that I can't track down ISBN wise, I'll probably take them to the charity shop if not.

That's a common trick in auctions to move books between lots, always worth checking before you bid and collecting asap to avoid this.

As for ladybirds, the finest resource on the net has got to be the wee web sold one on ebay for £20 the other week!

Who does this? Other bidders or the auction house?

It's the naughty bidders - sometimes it's best to be in the room on auction day and check the goods just before the sale starts - a good auction house will monitor the stuff from then on, like keeping people away from the tables during the sale and not letting them pack their purchases up unsupervised

Unfortunately I'd left a pre bid as I couldn't make the auction and whilst I know I wouldn't have bid on just a box of ladybird books and 3 normal books, I can't prove it nor can I recall which books are missing, but I know they were the good ones. I'll know next time to be more careful.

However, I'm having a really terrible day 'real work wise' and am upset so decided to spend some time looking for my ladybird books on Amazon as I find Amazon quite calming. I have found a few using partial titles, checked issue dates (1955+) and I seem to have some ladybird books in the £7-£10 range..who hoo, feel much better now.

    Hi Mishka

Hope you don't get RSI and don't get too despondent if you don't sell for a while, you have to let the others in the queue sell first.

And, for that reason I don't rush to put the £1 discount on either, the buyer only gets a choice of the first 2 copies, so may not be aware that your £1 discount is even available.

    Happy selling

    FFM :)

Just sold a book to Sweden! Never posted to Sweden before. Hoping it doesn't cost too much as it is a very light book and I've received £17 for it.

just sold another book..... so thats 5 in one week... well since the first of march......so pleased with that......

soolin.... that has happened to me before.....i normally leave bids on the table so to speak..... and then phone up to see what i have won..... and then go and collect.....

i now take a note book with me.... and write the lot no.... and the amount of books in there......and a few titles just to jog my memory........

will be going friday night viewing this week......as i want to get more books......

i know its slightly off topic..... but has anyone sold any books on ebay... has the new pricing kicked in yet ?

    in my experience both.

Crafty bidders will try and hide good books underneath or behind others and will also try and consolidate them into one lot.

Floor staff are aware of this behavior and the people most often seen doing this and they will attempt to rectify this by moving hidden books into other lots, replacing books in correct lots and generally having a bit of a minor shuffle if similair lots are from the same source.
