I had some very smoke smelly books to sell for someone else and got some good tips on freshening them from the Amazon sellers board - it was a bit of a palaver but worked a treat on about 20 books. Let me know if you want more info [and it helps if you have a cat!!!]

Now you got me wondering - how does having a cat help then - d'ya train them to flick the pages ??

:rotfl: Tried that but they just gave me that 'we pity humans' look, yawned and went off for a kip! Not very exciting or mysterious it just involved placing the book on paper over a layer of cat litter [unused] and bicarb.....

LOL thanks teapot - I can rest easy in my bed now. I've trained my cat to do all sorts of stuff but I would have been wide eyed with admiration if you could have trained that! 24.gif

I sold a law book early today and luckily I didn't send it immediately as I've been working so have just got home intending to go back out to the Post office with it. However, luckily I logged in first and I have this email from the buyer:

    Dear Sir/Madam

    I order Selwyn's Employment Law
Please make sure the right one is despatch.

I've unwrapped my book, thrown away my rather expensive padded bag and checked it. I am definitely sending the one she ordered, but nowhere does it mention 'Selwyn's employment law'.

I put that phrase into Amazon and it odes bring up several law books, none of which being the one the buyer bought from me. Obviously I've emailed her and asked her whether she has actually bought the wrong book and I have said I'll hold it until I hear from her, but is there anything else I can do?

I have also just sent an email to Amazon CS explaining the situation as I am worried that I might get negative feedback if she believes the fault is mine.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi Soo,

does sound like the buyer has doubts she ordered the correct book  There is a well known and often updated book called 'Selwyns Law of Employment' which has that clearly on the cover. I'm assuming that is what she wants?

I think you need to wait for some clarity about whether she wants your book or not - maybe buyer TSFA? Don't see why you should get a neg as it is not your mistake its the buyers and I guess you could do a refund?

    Annoying about the packaging though

    Good luck

    thanks teapot,

I'm sure she just ordered the wrong one, the latest 'Selwyn' is going in excess of £25, the non Selwyn she bought from me was £2.50. Even older Selwyn's are going for more than mine, so I think she has made a mistake.

I just hope she sees that the fault is hers, and not mine

get the edition number and publication date, then confirm with her that these are correct before dispatching.
I now do this as a matter of course with Law Books as they tend to be heavy and are quickly outdated, unfortunately law students today seem incapable of reading the information provided by amazon.

Though I did recently have a customer who was researching law and wanted out of date publications specifically to check changes in the law over the years. This is a rarity as I have had to refund far more due to customers not looking for the most recent edition or not reading my description stating year of publication and edition number.

rare-stuff, she specifally said she was expecting the 'Selwyn' book, which is not what she bought from me.

She still hasn't got back to me but Amazon CS have. They suggest i wait a while longer for a response and if I don't get one then possibly just refund with a note that I believe she ordered the wrong book. They have warned me though that buyer remains eligible to leave me feedback whatever I do.
