Yesterday I was told only one coupon allowed now. So I'll stop going to Tesco - anyone else noticed their prices ( apart from the half price 5 a day farce) are higher than they were. I have been buying sugar up to 3p a packet less elsewhere.

cheapest sugar I seen at the weekend was in M & S (of all places) buy 1 get 1 halfprice on the fairtrade 1kg sugar which brings it down to 60p a bag.

I went to my local store today, the one where I have had previous problems with vouchers - I wish I had thought of the don't crap on your doorstep phrase when I handed vouchers over many, many months ago. For a while I was followed around the store and even now I avoid going to CS desk if at all possible. I even complained to HO but they weren't very helpful.

Anyway, I wanted some toiletries and a mother's day present so went to my local. I was going to go to the self-scanners (we have a love hate relationship) but saw a familiar face on the till.

The SA accepted my toiletry vouchers but said it was only one non-purchased voucher per transaction so I split my shopping into 3 lots and had £10.50 using 3 seperate daily mail vouchers. That way I saved money but I also stick to their rules.

I did get lots of bargains - apple crumble cookies (posh ones) reduced to just 24p a pack and a nutcracker and a superman toy. I also got some choccies which spelt I love you reduced to 49p so will give them to Mum on mother's day.

It is wonderful saving lots of money with vouchers but as a constant voucher user it can actually be quite hard to stay under the radar. I once asked a male SA who would happily scan anything how many people do the voucher thing and he said it was just a handful of customers which means the supervisors tend to notice the regular couponers.

  • Well today I had abit of a shopping list as Mum is poorly so I split it into 2 shops and decided to use the self-scanner at my local.

First transaction, I scanned 2 x £1.25 toiletry vouchers, 1 x £2.00 toiletry and a £3.50 book voucher, buying toiletries, wrapping paper etc. The SA actually scanned some of my vouchers for me as I stood watching.

2nd transaction - I wanted to scan the £3.50 book voucher and no other vouchers.

However, in between transaction 1 and transaction 2 I was spotted by the "welsh one" aka my shadow aka as the crabby supervisor. Now she spoke to the self-scanner assistant and when it came to her authorising the £3.50 book voucher as she HAD done on the previous one, she told me that tescos do not accept them and someone in the back office told her so !! so my voucher was voided off and promptly handed back to me ..............

Which just goes to show my cards are definitely marked at that store !

However, as I had had £10 ish off my first lot of shopping I just smiled politely and will use it again

We have just had self scanners in our store and they are set to bleep for coupon use - they let you use 1 and then bleep on the second but so far I have had no problems getting them authorised. I am more careful now though.

Dreadfull coupon day for me, a young gentleman who 'tried' to scan all of my coupons but it only took 4. I think he must have hit the total button so it wouldnt take them. They were normal 20p of cheese and ones like that, not even internet ones. Oh well, back to the multiple transactions.

Our local self scanners beep on the first voucher if it is over a set amount - which is why on the 2nd transaction after talking to my "buddy" she cancelled it off. Never mind there is always another opportunity
