Tesco Maybe Stopping Using Coupons!!!!

Went to tesco today and got clothing with blue and lilac vouchers and some food etc too and got told by checkout girl (who I know very well) that there was a notice in their staff room that they will stop taking vouchers soon

Oh my god - how will I cope..

Anyway she took all the one she could (bless her) but said they are not allowed to take the book coupons and couldnt take all the lilac clothing vouchers - till bleeped and would not allow it. Oh well I was more than happy with what I got.

So be aware that the good times may soon come to an end or it may just be that they are having one of there clamp downs... lets hope so.

I had the same thing at the weekend, apparently they're having a massive clampdown.........
Some people create their own storms....then get upset when it rains!
  • Me too, picked up £30 worth of children's clothes and the first voucher for £6 off ( Quit ones) wouldn't scan, then the £4 blue one wouldn't. the only one that would was the £5 lilac one. Luckily I went to CS after and asked her to scan the £6 one again - she asked if the coupon on there was a clothing one and I told her it was a clubcard voucher:rolleyes:

Took some of the clothed back the next day so came out OK in the end tho.

Is this clamping down on all coupons? Or just the misuse of clothing coupons?
I'm guessing normal coupons are fine as Tesco get the cash back from the manufacturers - whereas with clothes they lose the money.

Though hardly going to dent "X" billion profits

No got told all coupons, a friend of mine works at tesco and said it was on the notice board in staff room. I was buying a couple of woman mags and she said may not be able to use the vouchers as they could be stopping all vouchers soon. Dont know how they can if they get their money back, unless they make you buy the product.

It happens from time to time, someone in the back office gets tired of shifting through vouchers and they have a clampdown. Then it goes back to before. If my store will only accept one non-purchased item voucher then I will do smaller shops.

  • I was told the same this evening, only 1 non-purchased item coupon allowed!!

This was just as a courtesy jesture.

After I have just learnt the art of 'couponing' they're clamping down on it

Yesterday I was told only one coupon allowed now. So I'll stop going to Tesco - anyone else noticed their prices ( apart from the half price 5 a day farce) are higher than they were. I have been buying sugar up to 3p a packet less elsewhere.

I thought it was just me. I'm carless at the moment so went to Asda because it's marginally nearer. They are much much cheaper. I was shocked:eek:
I'm still shocked at how much I saved
I have gone right off my local Tesco(Brent Park) because the staff look they have been chasing parked cars and whatever charm school they went to should issue them all with a refund.
My local Asda is lovely the staff are pleasant and their clothes are much nicer and can match primark in value for money.:T
