The other day I got given a joint of pork after I gave my friend my old bike as his daughter's had been stollen.
We do a lot of swaps at my work, all of hubby's clothes that he no longer wants goes to my friend, and if he doesn't want them, then the charity shop. In the summer hopefully we will be all swapping veggies from our garden. I'm a huge believer in giving things away to those that will use it rather than dumping it.
Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.

I'm a teacher and when we had Ofsted in a few weeks ago, my lovely teaching assistant gave me a bar of chocolate first thing in the morning with the words "I think you're going to need this!".
The inspector came into my first lesson and then it was break time so I took the chocolate into the staffroom and broke it up for everyone to share...so it was something I was given and something I gave away too. Lovely idea of hers!

Yesterday I took my grandad his weekly bakes (fruit buns this week, plus a bit of banana bread) and gave my Grandma a handmade card and bottle of Baileys for her birthday and they gave me their clubcard vouchers that had come so i could exchange for the deals for days out in the summer with the kids :) I am so so lucky with my lovely grandparents.

Also took cake along to my friends for our friday chinwag, she hates cooking/baking so her kids are always excited when i come through the door with a cake tin lol :D

  • Love this thread!

This week I was given some really strong leather(ish) gardening gloves and some delicious home made pies.

I gave away a belfast sink I'd dug out of my allotment and some eggs from my hens.

I get given a lot of home-made pancakes from my Mum. She also made fish soup yesterday so got some of that as well. She also gave me 2 tins of tuna that she says she won't eat it. I can't go into her house without coming out with anything.

Last week, my MIL's friend was having a clearout and was going to throw stuff out but asked my MIL if she wanted some things. In turn MIL passed a brand new holdall, a crystal fruit dish, and a brand new Christmas serving plate (still in box!). I also got a lovely, good as new, pelmet for my Mum.

My Dad recently died so when I go shopping now I always give my Mum something out of the shopping - like a couple of rolls out of my pack of 6, or a couple of bananas off of my bunch. It's not much, but it saves her a wee bit and often she thinks it's not worth buying anymore because she's just on her own.
