don't really get much either. have a dear friend who swaps spare plants with me and the odd barrowful of manure. that pleases me no end too. as i don't have a car, manure is like gold to me. altho' i grow green manure as an alt. this is manna from heaven as it's already rotted down whilst the green manure takes a while to grow. normally, i give plants away to friends to encourage them to GYO (grow your own) but they don't seem to have time for that kind of thing when they're too busy with other interests in their lives.. most things i've given to were to my previous partner's family but they didn't seem too appreciative (designer bags, new make up, nice topshop clothes etc.,) Perhaps, they weren't chavtastic enough for them so i ended up freegling or giving it to charity instead.
sometimes, my 65yo mum gives me her M&S/Pineapple hoodies/trackies if I go over w/o enough clothes on to keep me warm at night when i go back home on the train!!
oh forgot to add -
each time i visit, i always come away with leftover food from the dinner that they cook. sometimes, they cook more so that i can eat it the next day (they feel sorry for me having to cook for myself!). also, have a sister down south and she loves that i can help her sort her unwanted clothes. sometimes, i can get a couple of outfits and spare footwear too!! she and the charity shops are my main source of clothing suppliers!0 -
I was given two pairs of virtually new MBT!
My size and soooooo comfortable.
I'm walking on air!0 -
I am wearing Birkenstocks I was given (my mum's friend only knows one person with the same size feet as her) I think they had been worn once...and I have a fabulous pair of ankle boots I wear almost daily for work which also came from her. The shoes/sandals she sends are almost unworn!
She also sent some handbags - when I looked in the Tula one she had sent there was a folded £20 - I sent it back!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Yesterday my colleague gave me a lovely Oasis top. She brought it in for me and I didn't think it would fit as it's a size smaller than I would wear but it did and it is lovely! I will buy her a drink to say thanks though. :jSince starting again after beanie: June 2016: Child development DVDs, Massive Attack tickets. July: Aberystwyth trip, hotmilk nightie. Great thread
Yesterday both my mam and my grandma gave me a bag of black bananas for me to make banana bread for the little ones (and the big one!). Two loaves in the oven as I type.
Bananas never hang around long enough to go black in our house!
Also my Grandma gave me a box of blueberries, cherry toms and a bag of carrots. She says she remembers well how it was to have 3 little ones and not much money so she likes to help me out. I bake every week for my Grandad in return
Not given it away yet but have promised my friend a 'jumperoo' (like a baby walker but no wheels) when DD2 has finished with it, her baby is due in Aug and being an unexpected 3rd she had gotten rid of all the baby stuff!

I was given a cake and a curry last weekend by someone whose son I had helped with GCSE revision.
They were both lovely.:D0 -
Mr LW's pal, who lives alone, gave me the free thyme and basil seeds that came with his butter, as he doesn't "do" windowsill herbs. They're thriving, and I've had loads of lovely fresh stuff to cook with off them.
Same pal is coming over to us tonight, so I shall give him the small stash of Tesco schools vouchers I have; his grandsons can take them to school.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
We got given a Sony stereo that two lovely ladies were giving away when my hubba rewired their house. I returned the gift with a homemade fruit cake which they loved.
Today I made another cake for the girls at work and our friends phoned and invited us over for tea...get in no cooking for me tonight xx
I believe in karma and when you give you receive and vice versa... I love this thread btw xx0 -
