A quilted underlay for a single bed.I don't need it on my spare bed as I have a summer weight duvet under the sheet on there ,but I sat and unpicked the frill around the edge, and the quilted bit in the middle is going to line my pre-war toy box that my children and grandchildren used to play with when they were little (it was a present from an old chap who lived near us in 1964 ,he had made it as his 'apprentership piece in 1930 when he was a young lad) Once the box is lined, I will use it for storing my wool stash as it fits in an alcove in my sitting room. The frill I will cut into about a dozen bits and use as dusters and cleaning cloths after I have hemmed them .So every bit will be recycled and reused.Nowt gets wasted in my house if I can help it :).Mind you my spare bedstead was one someone gave me when my eldest DD was 2, she is 45 this year.It too is prewar and the lady who gave it to me had used it for all of her five sons before I had it.Its one of the most comfortable beds you could wish for Its obviously got a different mattress on it but the bedstead is an iron one with a lattice shaped frame that slots into the wooden headboard and footboard.I believe it too was made around 1930 odd.My DD says I must never get a new divan as as long as I have her old bed she is quite happy about it. Apparently when I eventually shuffle off this mortal coil she is going to put it in her spare room as well :):) Daft the things you get attached to isn't it

I never noticed this when I visited last year - but tbf I was more interested in tracking Jesus' footsteps and eating fresh falafel :D. Which brand is this?

I really like this thread. Free things are the best! Someone gave me 1/2 a bag of compost they didn't need. Makes my veggie pots even cheaper. I was really chuffed.

I'm going to take advantage of his luxury Tel Aviv apartment in late July and I can't wait for all the falafel!!! (Though we're doing two weeks at a resort in Turkey at the beginning of July...maybe I'll be falafel-ed out!

These are the choc chips I get:

Apparently they aren't hard to find. I'm going to try and hunt down some more vegan gems this summer; I'm guessing there might be some more pleasant surprises given the Jewish restrictions on meat and milk together.

My downstairs neighbour gave me a big box of Sugar Puffs 'cause her wee granddaughter had gone off them :D

I had forgotten how yummy they are!
    I'm not that way reclined

It's not too recent but the sunday before last a lady at work gave me half a tube of choccos.

Sound's sad but I work with my sort of ex (although our colleagues don't know about our romantic connection) and he was being his normal charming self and made me cry on the shop floor. When all the customers had left a lady at work sneaked out a tube of choccos a regular customer had given her, broke it down the middle and gave me half to cheer me up. Stupid but it really touched me <3

You are so lucky, I promise you Turkish falafel are not a patch on those I ate in Tel Aviv. They are so huge, perfect for sharing.

    Thanks for posting the pic!

Wow look at all the posts, thanks for joining in guys, loving the range of things you've been given. I envy the chest, would love one of those and the fabric scraps for a quilt, that is on my list of things to do. My ma got married in a dress with little pink flowers on it and when we were little she covered an old pouffe with it, it was so cute and I remembered when it faded she would unpick it and and fold it a different way (the whole dress had been folded) and stitch it back on. There wasn't much left by the time the pouffe died but I have a bit of what was left and cant wait to start a quilt with that.

Today I got given some envelopes and as they are all different colours I am going to give them to my daughters school to use for craft.

We have some dear friends who have a small-holding. The husband has filled some old compost bags with well rotted manure, (or 'Horse Poo' as it is known over here) and heaved it into my back garden.

    Couldn't have pleased me more.
