I disagree. Every argument he offered was calmly and sensibly debunked.

Simply shouting 'troll, troll' at someone offering a different point of view does not, in my opinion, do much for our credibility. THAT'S what he was after.

A sensible discussion pointing out clearly why his arguments are tosh reinforces the notion that PPCs (a) don't understand the law, and the unlawfulness of their own tickets and (b) have a financial vested interest in saying what they do. Every time they argue a point and it is rationally dismantled, they lose credibility.

But I'm happy to toe the party line and will not engage any trolls from now on.

I agree with Manxred whoever he is does more harm then good, unfortunately sometimes the threads go too far and abuse starts. If we can counter all of these PPC claims in the correct manner then it is normally an own goal by the PPC.

If every time a PPC supporter pops up we simply wipe their posts off, we could be accused of not seeing both sides. PPC-Guy admits he works for the darkside and offers his take on his industry. I don't think many here agree with his views, but at least he keeps it civilised.

I didn't add much to yesterdays debate because I thought Manxred was well ahead on points, and maybe a knockout was coming. Even when these posters start off well they soon revert back to like, and do more harm then good.

If we keep the abuse out of the thread and just counter any argument they come up with, I think is a better way then just deleting their posts.

Manx, it is not about winning points off him. If this was just a discussion forum then yes fine! I am thinking about people who come here very unsure about how they stand, worried that they will be taken to court, when will the bailiff come...

And we give them advice. He tries to undo that advice, and to discredit those who give it. And if people are unsure when they come on, the last thing we need is confusing and contradictory things being posted. Will people read all the clever arguments, see how his assertions have been taken apart? Some will, but they will mainly be those who are already convinced that what PPCs say is lies. Those that are still sitting on the fence cannot be helped by the hi-jacking of threads in this way. He is trying to float the myth that they are all-powerful- look, he's even come onto the Parking Forum and is bold enough to take everyone on. The problem with arguing with him is that it just gives the impression that he's half-legitimate to the forum team. That's how his ppeterson identity lasted as long as it did. I made the mistake of trying to argue with him. But I realised that all I was doing was playing into his hands.

When he came back as colinbell, no one spoke other than to report him and he was deleted in minutes. Same went for his next try, cannot remember what name he used.

Like all PPCs, he's a convincing liar. I have had to deal with people who put lies across with such confidence that they will challenge anyone's belief.

In short, he cannot assist our work, and can only hinder us with his presence. I say there's nothing to be gained but something to be lost by not getting rid of him at the earliest.

It isn't about us. It's about the people he tries to mislead.
  • This guy is not an employee, he runs one. He comes on regularly using a different identity each time and he isn't here to pass the time of day, his objective is to disrupt the forum and try to undermine confidence in us.

And he succeeded admirably this afternoon. He got exactly what he wanted. Because people gave it to him.

You cannot defeat him in argument because it just offers him the opportunity to start further argument.

His objective is to tell the people who look for help, hey don't bother because we are going to take you to court. And those people as he knows are already nervous and frightened so that is the last thing we need them to see or hear.

We all know it is rubbish, but it isn't about us.

He was given a soap-box to stand on and he made full use of it.

    Troll 1, Forum 0.

Why on EARTH wasn't he just treated in the one way he cannot handle- IGNORE/REPORT. His last two attempts were thwarted in minutes using that technique. Now, like his previous identity ppeterson, he's made enough posts to look half way genuine.

The advice given on here is to IGNORE PPCs. Let's take our own advice!

    Rant over for the moment!

Not sure if I should do a lap of honour round the forum now? :)
