What a horrid wet and windy day It makes me glad I’ve retired and don’t have to venture out. The great thing about a day like today is it’ll be a NSD.Happy Monday all

Rain and wind here. Not nice at all. Had to spend 50p to collect £35 that I was owed, not a NSD but 50p well spent! Love to you granny1

Actually turned into a £ windfall day. Hubby asked me to advertise his old fish tank free to good home. I put it on FB for £20 ono and could have sold it 20 times. Within an hour it was gone! £10 each in our wallets 👍
Piq, I think that 50p is £ well spent
Love to you too Granny xTargets

grannyx2 said:Hello forum 🤣
over the last couple of weeks I’ve been receiving emails from past DFD’s on here. Not sure why they’ve suddenly popped up but made me a tad nostalgic.
It’s been 4 years since I last posted and so much has changed.
Finances:
OH is debt free, having realised his investments finally.
We are mortgage free!
The only debt I have is on 0% interest payment plans and being paid at £5 per month collectively. I get letters a few times a year offering me 70% off settlements but I don’t have the £ to do that!
Other than that I get letters once a year asking me to make contact to update my financial statement. So for now I’m happy to continue paying this daft amount. OH knows about £11k of the £21k, not sure how this happened but I’m not going to stress him out unnecessarily. DD has been told to clear it out of my life insurance, which is left in trust to her & DS, if not cleared before then.
Family:
I’m now a Granny to 4 plus 3 step grandchildren
DD got married and had a beautiful little girl last Christmas. We were fortunate to be able to fly out to Australia to spend her first days with her and DD has been great at nurturing our relationship. I’m hoping to fly out for a month at the end of the year. Her husband (the chiropractor) has 3 children of his own.
DS still lives locally. We have a very strained relationship and hardly ever see him or DGC. DGD1 was 13 this year and is a beautiful girl.Kitty continues to bring much joy to our lives.Work:
I was promoted a few times over the last 4 years, eventually running a team of 5. The job was incredibly stressful (my fault for allowing it to turn into a career rather than just the job it was supposed to be, but hard not to show your abilities) and I decided just before Christmas to pack it in. It wasn’t an easy decision as the £ was good but my health and sanity is more important. OH was fully supportive (having retired himself in April last year)
We are now living a happy, fairly low spend life and it’s good. We get on better than we ever have, now we’re not stressed about work and £.
DM turned 80 this year and alternates between being lovely and vitriolic!
Health:
I have had a few issues over the past 18 months that have mostly been caused by stress. I decided it was time to get back to focusing on me and my mind before something serious happened
Weight:
Sadly the 3.5 stone I lost crept back on with the stresses of the last 2.5 years. I ended up heavier than before so am back on DD’s restricted Keto diet plan, albeit with a few more calories. 2 weeks in and I’ve already lost 12lbs. Once again I’m keeping it quiet from DD, hoping to surprise her later this year.
I’m off now to read a few diaries and see if any of the old gang are still around.
Pop in and post if you are
lots of love Granny
(I don’t like this new forum as I can’t see who’s posted when, so I’m adding a date to this post 22-2-20)
Hello Granny
I wonder if you remember me
Like you a lot has changed but maybe not quite enough
Still in a very stressful job in some ways more stress than when I joined over 20 years ago
Currently visiting my Dsis who has terminal lung cancer it is similar to the disease that killed our Dmum in the 70s
We have had a lovely day out today
She didn't know we were coming and her face was a picture yesterday when we arrived and Dniece caught it all on video
You sound so happy and it is lovely to hear
Congratulations to DD
Keep posting lovely to hear about old friends
Hugs

Hello NRA, of course I remember you I think of you often actually x
Sorry to hear about DSIS but so glad you had a good day today.
I am incredibly happy, if anyone had told me 10 years ago that I’d be able to take early retirement and be mortgage free, I would have laughed in their face. It’s made such a difference to my quality of life.
I may still have debt and it may bite me eventually but currently I’m classed as solvent, which is something I thought wouldn’t happen.
I hope you manage to get off that treadmill of stress soon
lots of love Granny xTargets

My signature has now appeared but is completely wrong (apart from the loving kitty cat) No idea how to amend it on mobile platform.
Today OH and I went to a garden centre and an aquatic centre. OH bought 4 lovely fish and 2 Aloe Vera plants. He had a beautiful looking custard slice whilst I nursed my coffee and protein bar.NSD for me!

Just a quick update to say all going well in lockdown.
I haven’t been out of the house since 21st March (except garden) and am keeping myself busy with knitting teddies as gifts for Children of family and key worker friends.
I’ve knitted dozens now but it’s great as it keeps my hands busy and stops me eating. As a result I’ve lost 35lbs!
Australia is obviously off for this year but I’m really hoping I can go next year.
T3sco have offered me a 80% full and final settlement which I’m seriously considering. I’ve got a tax rebate due so I could use it for that and wipe out £3k of debt for £600. That would bring my debt down to under £20k and only 4 predators. (3 with the same default company) who write often offering me stupid settlements of 20% off if I pay within 2 weeks. Fingers crossed they follow on from T3sco example.
Kitty is doing well and still as entertaining as ever.
hope all is well with any readers. Stay safe
Love Granny 💓Targets
