  • Hope you have a lovely time with DS and family today and happy hols with OH next week.

Could you maybe enter competitions or something to while away the time? Any groups in your area you could be part of? How are you for exercise/walking now? The idea of being off with nothing to do sounds lovely, but I can see why you'd get bored after a while Xx

Thanks both, I'm ok for now but realise this is because I've got things to do to get ready for Oz and ensuring the house is completely up to date whilst I'm away. However, I need to do something when I get back, which may just be some studying to update my skills if my operation follows as plans.

I had a lovely lunch with DS etc, DGS spotted me first and did a double take and started jabbering away in baby speak and then my girlies ran for a massive hug with squeals of excitement. I stuck to my diet until DGS decided my skimmed milk, sugar free coffee was much in need of a jammy dodger and lobbed his biscuit like a pro basketball player into it. I still drank it though, after fishing the soggy mess out.

I'm absolutely gutted. I bought a shirt for OH last year and it was too small for him so I kept it for DS who is slightly smaller. I gave it to DS for Christmas and he was really pleased with it.

At the same time, (early 2014) I got a really nice Tshirt in the catalogue sales and again decided it was more suited to DS than OH. I gave it to DS for his birthday today.

I've just found out that both the shirt & Tshirt were massively too big for DS and I think I've offended him. I've apologised to him and he said it's ok but I think he's justifiably hurt. The shirt was a slim fitting style so needed to be bigger but the Tshirt must have been wrongly sent as on checking my invoice it shows a smaller size. I've never felt so insulting in my life.

I told him to give them back for me to replace but had to explain that I won't be able to replace with identical items. He refused, saying the Tshirt will be good for lounging in. I so wish he'd told me about the shirt sooner as I would have double checked the Tshirt. B"gger and botheration :(

Don't worry about it! I haven't met a man yet who is capable of trying on clothes before the receipt runs out. My DS's things usually land up in a charity shop by summer after a conversation along the lines of "do you ever intend to actually wear this or not" That's after it has sat on the stairs for months. I have finally given up and given him access to my amazon account so he can buy whatever computer type bits he wants - so much less stressful!

Its the other way around here! I always try everything on but the women absolutely never do. That's why I am always queuing in Dorothy Perks & River Island for refunds and exchanges for them because 'they don't like taking things back  !!'

My older DS has a allowance to buy pretty much everything with. Has he saved anything for clothes, or has it been spent in the tuck shop..... Can you guess lol. I am NOT funding him he did know, so now he has long trousers up above his ankles. Not my problem. Until he tells me he wants to go shopping, I am not going to even offer either!!!!!

No he tried them on immediately, it's me who kept them for too long to return. I gave them to him this year. He didn't tell me about the shirt until I gave him the Tshirt, which was also too big and therefore believed I think he's larger than he is.

I could tell by his voice that he was hurt, even though he tried to make light of it, and justifiably so. I know it may sound petty to some but having struggled with my weight and rude comments from DM over the years I am upset that I've done this. He'll get over it but instead of a nice present I've handed him an insult. Sometimes being MSE goes against you!

Oh well Its done, I've said sorry, he's a grown man and has said its ok, I just need to forget about it now

Aww, Granny - (((hugs))) - it's awful when you feel you've disappointed your child, no matter their age or size.

But it's ok, DS has told you that, so forgive yourself - see if you can find something really special for him while you're Down Under (now you know the correct size to buy for him ;)).

Thanks for understanding Robin. I gave him my old tablet computer as well as he wanted one and I didn't need it so he hasn't gone short.

He's returned the Tshirt and OH has just tried it on and it fits him perfectly. TBH I don't think DS had even tried it on as it was still folded around its tissue paper and neat in the bag. Oh well DSs loss, OHs gain
