What to do with marrow
Comments

I've done a version of stuffed marrow but simpler. Basically cut the marrow into big (3cm deep?) rings, take out hard core and microwave to soften/cook. Then put the rings on the plate and fill with bolognese sauce.
Also have poached cubed marrow flesh with some chopped tomatoes for a tasty side dish with fish/chicken etc.0 -
Have you tried making marrow rum?
Ugh, will have to look for the recipe - but it's a cracking way of using a marrow if you don't much care for them......
Mind - give it a go eating first; the stuffed marrow recipes above are a good start!Oh come on, don't be silly.
It's the internet - it's not real!0 -
If you are having roast in the next few days a very simple way of using the marrow is by roasting it.
I microwave it for about 7 minutes then put in the roasting tin (or remoska) witht the meat, it absorbs all the meat juices and to me is lovely.0 -
I'd second (third?) the suggestion of marrow stuffed with bolognese sauce - cook it long and slow so it's collapsingly soft, then top with a bit of grated cheese and serve with crusty bread. It's truly yum - I pinch a marrow off my dad every year just so I can have my annual fix of stuffed marrow! :drool:Back after a very long break!0

How else would you cook the marrow in order to stuff it such as the above ring reciepe? And if you were to microwave it how long would the rings/marrow need?0

I don't actually usually cook the marrow before stuffing it: I find cooking it with the bolognese sauce in place means the marrow ends up tasting all bolognese-y, which is rather nice! It's no good if you're in a hurry, though, in which case Maman's idea is probably better - I've never microwaved marrow so I have no idea how long it takes doing it this way (I'd probably just go for the "poke it after a few minutes to see if it's done" method, but then that's how I cook most things, I'm afraid!).Back after a very long break!0

I'd certainly like the recipe, please, jenhug! I've been wanting to try making chutney for ages and your sister's recipe sounds really tasty.Back after a very long break!0

I have also been given a marrow! I have been told there is a Delia Frugal Food recipe for marrow and cheese bake I was going to try.0

Hello all
We've come back from holiday to a large number of marrows. They are not as appealing as courgettes...... Also they are all about a metre long - I'm exaggerating there!
Does anybody have any suggestions for tasty things to do with them?
Marrow chutney/jam is not an option as it won't get eaten.
I have a slow cooker.
Thanks for any pointers.
Love
