I did £28 shop in Tesco yesterday (mine and mums - she bought me a chinese so the least I could do was buy her a few groceries!)
When I got home today it occurred to me that my local Waitrose is closed every weds for a refurb and being a tuesday night I thought I would nip in to see if they had any bargains. Well I have never seen so many in my life!!!! It was mayhem! I filled a trolley with 20 items all costing 10p or 20p each including blueberries, avocados and white peaches - all usually quite expensive. I could not have bought any more if I tried and they still had trolley loads left over! Even the pro bargain hunters couldn't take anything else home tonight!:rotfl:
and when I got to the checkout the till took off 98p for a salad offer. The result? £4.39 for 20 items! :j
High on my new found love of end of day bargains I went past M&S and got some 10p fruit and veg in there too - there was no stopping me tonight! So that was another £1.10.
phew! not going anywhere near a supermarket for at least a week now!GC: Jan £118.67/£175

Speaking of anniversaries, has anybody got a good deal in canvas photo prints?
I'd like to have one done as a golden wedding anniversary for my folks. I'm arranging a holiday at a later date but would like to give them something other than the cake and champers on the day.
So far I think Tesco are the cheapest although Lidl do a composite golden anniversary themed one too.
Can anyone suggest anywhere?
Cheers.
JJ
Groupon, kgb deals and living social are the best for these I think - they usually list them under 'nationwide offers'.GC: Jan £118.67/£175

Another spend at co-0p for milk 54p, Mr T £63.57, Mr S £2.99 and Co-0p for Jubilee's bbq £10.25.
These bring my total to over half way my monthly budget but I'm hoping I can still keep it within my budget.:jBaby girl born 3rd October 2012:j0 -

Cheers. A friend sent me a link
Last night for living social deal which was crazy cheap. It would have been perfect but the small print stated allow 4-6 weeks for delivery.
The anniversary is little more than 2 weeks:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

Feeling very proud of myself. Have written my meal plan entirely based on using up the meats living in the freezer. Meal plan is written on the blackboard in the kitchen so almost literally "set in stone" (well chalk is a kind of stone!). Wrote list of F&V needed to complete meal plan and bought precisely that from Ald! today. And a couple of other bits that I remembered should have been on the list, but I forgot about them as I was writing it all down!
So I've spent £29.90 (got some camping mats too which bumped up the spend a little). Takes June's total to £49.12 / £200, with enough for meals until next Weds at least. Quite happy with that. I won't last until Wednesday without shopping as I forgot about milk and I'm also running a bit low on bread flour. A wee trip to L!dl on my way home from work one night will sort that. Usually to tired on the way home from work to bother trawling the shops so hopefully that'll mean it is just milk and flour. Especially if I don't get a trolley on the way in!0 -

Hi
Decided to pop over here to try and set myself a budget and stick to it
All this because after adding up all as*a purchases last month it was in excess of £650:eek: for a family of 4 for a month.....
DH does the shopping every week and is a passionate cook (every meal is planned for the week and done from scratch) however it is his love of 'good quality' food that led to the big shopping bills and my LBM to get rid of our £20k debt:eek:
So new budget for food is £75 a week and have been doing this the last 2 weeks all fine (we do a 'big' wholesale shop for meat, toilet rolls kitchen rolls etc once every 8 weeks) I've worked out that by taking the £75 out in cash and sending DH off with a calculator he can do quite well
Unfortunately i have to do the shopping this week  haven't done a shop for around 5 yrsso i'm desperate to beat hubbys best week (£62) although he is having to write me a list.....
On here looking for tips and i'll let you know how i get on(Shopping day friday)

First shop of the month and spent £40!
Not TOO bad, managed to pick up 3 avocados for 10p each, I love avocados! Much preferable to paying £1 + for one!! So only ever get them when they are reduced, 99% of the time they aren't even ripe when they sell them off!
Also picked up some extra portions of fish for 98p each (pack) instead of £3, I can use these to make fish cakes, have for breakfast etc I always freeze them on the day I buy, smoked mackerel I will add to omlettes for a bit of omega 3!
My vegetable garden is st arting to come out nice, ate some direct from the garden earlier, a bit of a wash under the hose pipe!
Meal planning tomorrowA bit annoyed at myself that I lost two portions of beef the other day because I forgot to freeze!!!
