Hi I'm still awaiting my award to be finalised as I sent forms 8 weeks ago. I got my normal payment last week then a second payment the day after - is this money they owe me from last years award? If so does that mean they have finalised my renewal on the system and I just have to wait for the paper copy in the post? Thanks

Because I need my entitlement papers to show my income to a third party.

And I don't see it as a waste of my local MP's time. Something we will have to agree to differ on.

If its an ogd then they can call HMRC for clarification, not sure who else would need to see details of your tc's?

Why are you in such a rush for it to be done? As long as you are still getting your normal payments why would you be riled and why would you waste the time of an mp?

You obviously don't know what it's like waiting for these kind of things to be sorted i have been waiting for 11 weeks and the provisional payments you get are a lot less than your payments you were getting before the 6th April. So yes maybe it will be a good idea to see your MP as there are a lot of people on here who have had there money after a week and 11 weeks is not acceptable!! And there are plenty of people who need to see your tax credits award i have had to show mine quite a few times.

I do not mean to be rude, but, this is complete rubbish!

There is no "provisional" award on renewal, the whole year is provisional until you renew, you certainly do NOT get any les while they are processing it, you simply get paid the exact same amount you got paid pre April, after it has been processed if you should have been paid less then there is an overpayment and they will contact you, if you should have been paid more or they owe you a few quid from last year then this triggers the extra payments you see reporting back about.

No need for anybody to be getting their knickers in a twist over it, the extra payments are NOT guaranteed, 1 year you might get one the next you might not, we got them for 5 years on the run then last year nothing, if they owe you they will pay you once it has been processed, simples :)

So far as people needing to see your award, I am intrigued, do please share with us who has asked to see it, I am stumped on that one apart from maybe a child care provider but I do not think this is even normal practice. Maybe housing benefit people? I don't know about this. Anyway we have been claiming since it began and the amount of times I have had to show it as proof to anyone in any financial or other dealing is minimal, so minimal I cannot even remember the last time. Of course everyone is different so am genuinely interested in who wants to see it?

At the end of the day, yes it is a pain being up in the air and having no idea what is going on but it will be sorted at some stage, in the meantime there is very little you can do......I doubt very much your local MP will be interested anyhow :rotfl::rotfl:

    EDIT

Thought it might be useful to add, did our last Thursday by phone, on the phone for 23 minutes, obviously nothing yet lol, it will be done when it is done :)

  • Well I'm going to disagree

While I was waiting weeks for my renewal to process I was been overpaid at my lower estimated earnings and in fact I earnt more.

I was finally glad to have my renewal completed so rather than incurring a massive overpayment they deducted it monthly.

I know people who have had to show their tax credit award to get housing benefit incom support.

I don't really understand it either, as far as I'm aware payments remain the same until they've processed whatever (if any) changes, ours have always been paid regardless. We're certainly not big earners so we need them as much as the next person but, I don't see what is to be gained by tying up the advisors and the phone lines on a regular basis.

I renewed ours last week and was on the phone for a total of about 20 minutes, also never been asked to produce our tax credits award either as it 'proves' nothing really as not final until the year is over.

Actually i am getting paid lower than i was pre 6th April by £15 less so how you can say that i don't know it is stated as provisional actually!! And £15 is a lot to someone who needs the money

Oooh lots of nosey people eh?! Why I need the paperwork (and to whom) is irrelevant. Shedboy asked a question and I replied to it.

And I will back up kaz....my TC award has decreased by about £15 per week also post April and as far as I can recall, this is what normally happens every year (hence why I usually get a small one off as it's the difference from what I should have been getting paid to renewal)

And I agree it's not as if you are left with no payments when renewal is being processed (which is a huge plus), it is frustrating that a renewal takes this long with no reason attached to it. If everyone was waiting - if things were done on a 'first come' kinda basis - then it would be fairer but people are waiting weeks and weeks whereas others are renewing after them and getting their claim completed in a matter of days.

Of course what you mean by the words in bold is nosey....plain and simple.

But just to keep you going, it's nothing to do with HB (am a homeowner) or other benefits (I work obvs since I claim WTC).

Sleep tight with all that intrigue you have swirling around.
