  • KP so gutting. Feel sorry for my bro tbh more than anything. Both of us work for the government so just can't get involved in anything even slightly dodgy so it will need to be done by the book all the way :(. At the end of the day the money is owed and he has the car so fair enough. I'm sure he'll pay me back it'll just be delayed.

I decided to still go ahead with all the wee jobs I need doing and I had a couple of guys here last night giving me a quote. I am getting front and rear gutters cleared and cleaned, front garden weeded and mown, back garden is a disaster and there is loads to clear out with brambles etc, my shed door is getting fixed, summer house roof needs a new truss and re-felted, Gate needs rehung and whirlygig is to be cemented in. Lots of things and only £220 so I am delighted with that. I will buy a couple of big tins of paint and get the kids onto all the painting and garden will look fab again :D. This will need to go onto my overdraft but all jobs are essential or it will cost me more in the long run.

My brother's silver wedding party tomorrow so I picked up his cake today and my Aunty ought all the food last night. Wee soul wouldn't let me pay a penny towards it :D. Unfortunately I am in my overdraft again this month :(. 2 houses to clean tomorrow so I will get £37.50. That will pay for my haircut and our taxi tomorrow night so all is good :D.

Hope everyone is well, have a fab bank holiday weekend xx

Well, that is good news about the garden, that's a lot of jobs getting down for a very good price, and at least you will have money coming in each month from your brother :T.

    Have a good weekend :D.

  • It must have been hard having a family event so close to your loss. I bet there were lots of stories about yor mum being told. She was probably watching on being very proud.

Hate to tell you, but it will be 6 years this year since I lost my Mum and I still miss her, especially at family events :( There are less tears now, so it does get easier to cope with.

I know that the rest of the family think of her too and try to include her in most things we do be it a favourite cake, flower, song or just a tale about her.

  • Evening all :). Been a busy ( and expensive) weekend. Brother's party on Saturday night, out with my friends on Sunday and cleaned all day yesterday. My house is clean for the first time in weeks. Started at 8.15 and finished at 10pm. This included a huge ironing mind you as it was out of control . Kids got a rollicking when they came in last night as neither of them were off yesterday. When they got home I had switched the internet off until they both cleaned their rooms and I have written a list of my daily expectations , housework wise, from them. We'll see if it works out ;).

Money wise it looks like I am going to get the money from my mum. My brother has said that no way is he going to allow the money to all go to the car. I have said that I will call the car company and offer a full and final offer and see how we get on with that. Not sure if it works with car loans but I am going to do some investigating and find out if it is an option.

Am away this weekend with a friend who is getting married. There are 31 of us going . It's all paid so that is good. It is a country and western weekend on a wee island off the west coast of Scotland. There will be much merriment and it's just what I need right now. I have a pink fluffy cowboy hat so I will look a babe :rotfl:. There will be lots of dancing and I just can't wait tbh.

I hope everyone is in good form and all is well xx

Ooh I'll be looking out for your picture in the local paper next week! (Might help if I knew what you looked like tho lol!) I'm sure you'll have a ball, it always seems to be a great weekend (from people that I've spoken too) just hope the weather is good for your wee sail over - it's only 10 mins but much better in the calm. :D

It's lovely to hear you sounding a little bit more like yourself even though it is still very early days, your doing so well x
  • Just look for a big fat woman with a glass of wine in her hand and a pink stetson :rotfl:. I've told my own group of friends that I will scope this out and we may all go next year if it is great fun. I'm really looking forward to it :D.

I'm doing ok Nonnie. I miss Mum like crazy but am dealing with it. I reckon I have grieved massively over the past 3 years which has made this period less intense. I have no worry about her now. I used to fear my phone ringing as I never knew what to expect. If I saw her carers name on my phone my heart would just stop. That stress has all gone now and I just have to deal with her loss. Take care xx

    Hi MIT,
It does get easier, just takes a bit of time.

Enjoy yourself on the wee island. Havn't been there since the days of Sunday School picnics. We used to hire a bike for an hour then race round the island like Olympic medalists. Fingers crossed for sunny weather

  • Well my garden looks amazing :j4 guys worked most of the day on it and it is smashing. I will need to get some bark and finish it all off and get some work done on my pots but on the whole iy looks great. When I say great it is a mud bath but the lawn will come back within a couple of weeks so I am not that worried. Gutters are spotless, doors, roof and gate all repaired. So happy. They found a massive wasps nest in an old tree trunk . It's gone now and so has the stump. There were 3 huge stumps and 2 have now gone.e gone into my overdraft to pay for this but hey ho

Now unfortunately I have had to go into my overdraft to pay for this :( but it really really had to be done. I am getting a bonus from work though either this wage or next so I can pay it off and I will also get some money through from Mum so all is good.

I need to stop living as frugally as I do as it is having quite a depressing affect on our lives. As I have told you all I am away for the weekend and although I have paid for the trip and I have saved spends I had to buy jeans as mine are horrible and also had to get pyjamas as I usually wear knickers and a vest top to bed :rotfl:. Ridiculous !!! and it needs to stop. ASDA also had big tubs of cream and white emulsion, and tins of gloss and undercoat for £4 each so I was £16 but intend using it for my bedroom and also the bathroom for a wee tidy up. So 2 rooms decorated for £16 is a bargain as far as I am concerned :D.

I am feeling motivated to get organised just now so I am going to go with it and see how I get on. Next month after my weekend away I am going to get back on the moneysaving bandwagon but I am still going to go out and have a bit of a life. I will just do it on a budget
