  • Glad its all going ok. The dust can only get so thick, take your time and you will get back into a routine x
    Trying to shift that debt!
  • I now have an almost tidy lounge :j. Dishwasher is on but there is another load waiting to go in when it is done :o.

I have a quandary. I am going to have about £3k after everything of my mum's is paid. We thought there was just enough insurance to pay the costs so this was a surprise. Made me cry again as my mum always loved treating my brother and I. My quandary is what do I do with it? Both kids need new beds so I will buy those. I need a new door fitted to my shed and my gate has come off and summer house roof needs refelted so I will get that done. My hall carpet is disgusting and I need a new oven. Now this money would cover all of this and I could have a small emergency fund BUT I am so so aware that I have over £12k in debts to pay off .

So do I pay it all off of my debt or do I attend to the jobs needing done? I am concerned as my shed, gate and summer house are going to be beyond repair if I don't sort them out soon. Ach I'll ponder and do what's right for us in the long run. It may be a mixture of debt and what we need to keep us comfy.

DS is back at school tomorrow :j:jthank bloody God :rotfl:. Doing my head in. He eats everything and trashes my house and smells :rotfl:( not really but I tell him he does).

Still being healthy and still taking lunch in with me :D. Bought a card and a wee travel pass for my friend's daughter for starting high school. I stuck a wee fiver in it for her to get some treats and you would have thought I had given her the moon. She was really chuffed with it and is so excited about going to high school. So sweet and made me smile muchly. I hope everyone is well xx

Definitely get the things you need doing, it makes practical sense as much as anything. Every time you open the front door you can say 'thanks Mum' when you see the carpet :) . And blame her if you burn the dinner ;).
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • And it would be a false economy to let things spoil.

Would cost more in the long run.

I think get work done, and plod on with your debts. Its a lifestyle this frugal thing xxx

I agree with the others - get the work done. The debts will be paid off anyway, and if you used the £3k towards the debts, you may wind up adding to them to get the work done if it becomes an emergency.

Hi, sorry - only just caught up with stuff.

I agree with the others, get the work done and keep plodding on with the debt. I remember when I got money from my Dad's estate I did things in a very different way to how I would do them now with the benefit of hindsight.
