damn the plumber.
Im glad you are feeling happier about things, you will get there. we will be debt free one day .
Is this for your central heating? I am going to have to get mine done too, its really old and goosed.Trying to shift that debt!0 -
I need a whole new system. Panic! Panic! Panic! What to do?
Ok options are-- Just get heating and pay from CC and pay off ASAP
- get home improvement loan, consolidate debt, get heating, bathroom and kitchen done.
- Panic!
. I'm sure I will make the right decision in the end.
No money spent today. I'll spend some tomorrow but it will be minimal. I am heading out for lunch but will just have soup or I might just not go. I'll see how I feel and how my stomach is as it has been really bad this week,
I made homemade pasta sauce tonight and it is yummy. Made from home grown tomatoes, peppers, onions and I threw in some mushrooms, chicken and leftover sweetcorn. I took some down to my friend and her Mum as they provided the veggies. That'll be my dinner tomorrow night and possibly lunch on Thursday as well.

What is the equity in your home? And how long are you planning on staying there?
I re-mortgaged and increased the mortgage to cover the cost of a conservatory, bathroom and kitchen. But the mortgage is still only about 30% of the property value and I don't intend moving in the foreseeable future
But I do know the usual advice is not to go down the secured loan route.......:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
Awww sorry to hear that no grant is available MIT. I would go one step at a time on the home investment.:j0

Matymoo unless I win the lottery I will be staying here forever. Unfortunately my house isn't actually worth much. Probably around £65k. I have a £25k mortgage outstanding but I owe about £18k on a home improvement loan. This only leaves me with about £12k if I was to borrow the max of 85% LTV so basically it's a no go. I reckon I need to pay with CC and work my B U T T off to pay it off ASAP.
I will need to replace my flooring as well and do some patching up decorating. So I think I know what I need to do but I lust after a new bathroom and kitchen so much as you know. I need to get a grip as lots of people have so little and in reality I have so much. So chins will be lifted and I will just get on with it. Heating will be fitted and we will be lovely and cosy which is more than a lot of folks can say.
I will get a payment plan of action going and get rid of this debt as fast as I can and then my prize will be my bathroom and kitchen refitted and I will pay cash for them. Plan sorted !!5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

Many years ago when I got my 1st home it didn't have central heating and the plan was to out it in after a couple of years. Part way through the first winter, with ice on the inside of the windows, I gave in
I can put up with a lot, but being cold is not one of them
I know you will get there, even with a few bumps in the road you have remained determined and focussed:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -

hi folks. Not had a computer for a few days and was away out at theatre last night. Went to see Joseph and his coat with H from Steps in it. Was fab although H was a bit weak.
Welcome Baldybear. Come in any time for a wee blether.
Well the drama in here the last few days .DS came home and told me that when he turns 16 in December his bus fares were going up to £6.20 per day to get to school . Well after I recovered from passing out I had to think about that. We have now managed to negotiate a bus pass for £25 per week for the kids but this month I am £120 for him to attend school and when he is 16 I will be > £200. It's like another mortgage . Anyway I have no choice as those of you who read this drivel will know and I will find the money somehow. He eventually had a major meltdown and there were tears and snot everywhere as he had been so terrified that I would put him back to his old school as he would get free travel there. He even offered to pay £5 per week himself. Such a shame. I have told him that I will starve rather than put him back there. We then had a giggle over me starving and doing good on my diet as a result. Hate seeing him cry. He is about 5'10" and broad built. A man to be honest but such a boy still. I hope that makes sense. Anyway I have convinced him he can stay and he is happy.
Then I had DD distraught because DS had put her laptop onto the home domain and then removed it and all her pics of my Mum were lost. As I said .........the drama !! Luckily DS managed to get them all back. Tonight I got a text from a good friend asking if she could come up for a blether. I just said to her to come and get fed and blether and she walked in the door and dissolved. She has chucked her husband out and I just dished out TLC , wine and food to her all night. Sheesh I am knackered :rotfl:.
No quote yet for heating but hopefully get it over the weekend. I have decided to get heating and new flooring. Also a new bath panel as mine is split. House will look great then as DD will patch up all the bits that need done decorating wise and I will content myself in my nice cosy home. My brother and his wife are coming for dinner on Sunday and he will help me with bath panel and fix my bath tap for me.
So I have fingers crossed that things will settle for a while. I need to put everything on a card but hey I have managed to pay cards off before and I will do it again. So have a smashing weekend folks. I intend to chill out after work tomorrow and then have a nice family day on Sunday xx5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

You are such a good mum and your DS offering to pay so he doesn't have to go back to his old school , priceless.:) It is so true being a mum we will do anything to help our kids. Hope things ease up for you when the increase in his bus fare applies.
Hope your friend feels better.
