I know you can't help me but I'm going to share anyway...(hairdresser related)

Oh dear, I would seriously do as fluffnutter suggests. I found my favourite salon by asking a boy that served me in the local Wetherspoons where he got his hair cut and you do have to book a couple of weeks in advance.
I also had my hair cut by my mum's hairdresser when my son was a baby and it was the most convenient one to get to. HUGE mistake, I drove home, left my son with my then husband and went and got it cut again (2 haircuts in 1 day.)Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100 -

I did this when I moved to a new area. The women I asked were delighted to be told how fabulous they looked and were happy to tell which salon and which stylist did their hair.0 -
I moved almost two years ago. Have tried three places, including the local college and have got so frustrated that i cut my hair myself last time. I have curly hair and the teacher/ instructor at the ollege admitted they did not really teach ho to handle it, that she didn't know...and frankly wasn't tha interested in learning. I went with the more advanced students and, well, i would on the back of that was frankly pretty forlorn.
I have seen no one in my local town with hair i envy, and noone at all with hair as curly as mine. Let alone colouring........0 -
You could say "ok, thanks, I'll check if my mum is free at that time and get back to you".Only way to find out if all the other hairdressers in this area have quick appointments or not would be to phone them all but I don't want the embarrassment of saying 'actually thanks but no thanks I've changed my mind when they offer me an appointment. :rotfl:0 -

I wouldn't read too much into it, it'll probably be fine.Don't worry. It's only hair - it'll grow back.
You two do realise your strengths don't actually lie in the area of 'support' don't you?
:rotfl:
Just messing.
I did actually ask for an appointment with a senior stylist so hopefully the type of place that gives you a choice like this will be the type of place that'll be ok. Wont it? :rotfl:
I've just plucked my eyebrows and de-fuzzed my face. Partly cos I'm nervous and partly because I don't fancy being stuck in front of a mirror for ages being forced to stare at all my less than attractive attributes.
Oh well...wish me luck, I'll probably either come back looking like my Mum (minus the blue rinse) or they'll have given me such a funky haircut I'll look like mutton dressed as lamb.
Maybe I'll just take a few clips and a bobble with me......:DHerman - MP for all!

Why don't you just scope out the people who are coming out of the salon...? No point in looking at the people going in... but coming out, assuming they haven't just gone in to make an appointment..
Also, a little worried about katy who wroteLast night at my dog training class I was complaining of my fringe being too long. One of the blokes there used to be a hairdresser and had a cut throat razor in the car. He offered to trim my fringe for me, and so I had it cut whilst stood in the middle of a field with a cut throat razor...
katy - I know you wanted to meet new people on your other thread, but I promise you dear, that blokes who carry around cut throat razors in their cars probably isn't the way to go....:eek:0 -
Well I'm back.
I think it's ok.
It turned out it was the salon owner who I was booked in with. First time I've ever had a bloke cut my hair.
And there was none of that inane 'are you going on holiday' chitchat. Oh no.......we spoke about redundancies and how poorly certain companies treat their staff.
My hair is certainly lying better but the proof of the pudding will be when I wash it and dry it myself. Think it's fine though.
Thanks all, for holding my hand in a cyber kinda way.

and if it isnt fine alias - then don't do a street survey (not in the street) but a supermarket one!
what woman would be anything but flattered by a lady in the supermarket doing a double take and gushing 'Wow, I LOVE your haircut - may I ask where you have it done?'
I can promise you the answer will be forthcoming! Who could resist?0 -

I am fine Caroline, he is someone who regularly goes to the training class
I am not desperate enough yet to be touting for 'haircuts' off random strangers!
