I can't remember if this has been mentioned before or not, but how far away is your old hairdresser?
Would it be possible to go back to her this once.
When she's finished take plenty of photos from all relevant angles, etc, and you can then show those photos to the new hairdresser next time.

    About 180 miles away. :D

I was hoping to get back during the holidays and would have got her to cut it then but a) I can't wait that long and b) I don't think I'll be able to get up now anyway, unfortunately.

    Hmmm.

Well, when you do go back and get your hair cut there, remember to take photos!
Won't help this time but might help next time. Or the time after that...

Look at it this way: you've hacked at it yourself and made a complete hash of it. An experienced hairdresser could hardly make it look worse.

I've had my fair share of completely rubbish haircuts, and it's having naturally curly hair and being very happy with it that was the cause of so much trouble. It's my firm belief that being trained to use scissors can render some hairdressers completely deaf to their clients wishes. I now have a friend, who's never had any hairdressing training, to trim it for me. It may not be the best and most professional cut in the world but at least it doesn't make me want to wear a bag over my head afterwards.

I've not read the whole thread, a previous poster may have mentioned this before.
It's tuesday, and I'm in work. No doubt a lot of the population are also in work. With the exception of pensioners and those who don't work, who would you expect to be at the hairdressers on a tuesday afternoon?
I always go on a Friday evening or a saturday, its heaving then and difficult to get a slot. Far less demand for weekday appointments inside of school / work hours.

Maybe younfriend should read the curly girl trimming technique. I wanted dh to do mine but he is far too sensible to try. Curly hair makes it much harder to find a good hairdresser, so many are scared of it and reguse to accept an inchoff can make it bounce into curl mor resulting in four inches shorter.

Aliasojo, i am still hunting too, and in fact tomorrow am leaving the sticks and heading in to a city to try and find a hairdresser i feel i can give my tresses to for a trim and highlights.

I've not read the whole thread so don't know if somebody else has said this but did you see the thing recently (I think it was either on the Mail website or in the Metro) where a hairdresser taught the journalist how to cut her own hair?

Basically you throw all your hair forward and tie it in a pony tail at the top of your forehead (think unicorn but pointing forwards from the hairline.) Then you chop it off a few inches down the ponytail (further down if you want it longer) then use the points of the scissors to snip into the end (it'll now look like a shaving brush.)

The end result is a kind of layered style (a bit Chrissie Hynde.) I tried it the other day for my fringe only and it worked a treat!

Really hope you get your hair sorted!

I go to a good hairdresser in Stirling, she's cut my hair for 15 years and I won't go anywhere else. It's a busy salon, but I can get an appointment within a couple of days usually, so that doesn't always mean anything. :)

My hairdresser lives 2 hours away near where my mum lives! So i always book appointments for when I know i'll be seeing my mum. Luckily I have long hair so it can last but I see my mum every couple of months so have it cut fairly regularly!

Whereabouts do you live? (just generally I'm not a stalker!) Maybe someone on here knows a great hairdresser near to you x

I did this when I moved to a new area. The women I asked were delighted to be told how fabulous they looked and were happy to tell which salon and which stylist did their hair.

Agree with everyone who's said this, I do it all the time, with clothes and make up as well as hair. People are chuffed to bits :)

I would be too, but it's never happened to me:rotfl:

Central belt now. Could drive to Stirling for a decent hairdresser. It would be a wee bit closer than my own (old) one. :rotfl:

I'm off out shortly. Wish me luck.

Ironic thing is, it's sitting quite nice now. :D Well, apart from the fact the sides don't match that is. :rotfl:
