Don't you just hate Royal Mail?

you are a patronising poor judge of character and intellect macfly - try re-reading your earlier posts and then answer a couple of the questions.
I pay 40% more for a second class stamp than I did 10 days ago but strangely enough the letter wil not be delivered any quicker or more efficiently.
Most postmen I know walk their rounds. The Royal Mail would do well for themselves and the environment to consider electric vehicles where they can feasibly be used. No doubt negotiations with the government/EU would attract subsidies.
Here is a pertinent link - perhaps these people are idiots who know nothing too.............

I can post a letter in Cornwall and it will arrive in Orkney the next day. All for 60p - 10 days ago it was 46p. That's still a huge bargain in my book!
How is spending money on electric vehicles going to be more environmentally friendly or cost effective than doing a round on foot or by pushbike? Most postmen I know walk their rounds. No doubt negotiations with the government/EU would attract subsidies."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Fuel has gone up by around 30% in the last year but the cost of a second class stamp had also risen from 27p to 36p(33%) in the same time period.
Electricity may facilitate fuel savings when combined with subsidies, etc
Interesting to see the support for the Royal Mail on this thread is not mirrored by Guardian readers. I am not a Guardian reader but the contributions largely mirror my own thoughts.0 -
up at 3am(2.30am actually) because I work for a living.
So you don't have any information for anyone?
So the implication is you work and I don't or possibly that you work harder than me?
It is a good job you don't post for a living.
Read the Guardian link - apparently their readers don't agree with you either and the bigger picture you asked for is reasonably well explained in the first few posts.
Bring the business back to profit and privatise before the impact of the price increases further erodes the business into losses again.0 -

so bring back profit, but don't raise prices?
You were the one questioing why I was up in the ealy morning.
A link to a newspaper article isnt giving the big picture.
you placed yourself as the one with all the info.I expect the big picture and the history of the Royal Mail or was it consignia to be lost on you.
theres nothing in that link thats news to me,was it for you?0 -
In my opinion, if substantial prices rises(prior to 30/4/12), post office closures, removal of services, restricting of existing services, pressure on staff, etc, are not enough to make the Royal mail profitable, the company is doomed.
Deliveries have dropped around 25% IIRC since 2006 and the current price rises will further impact. I see this ending badly.
You have already said that the entire Guardian thread with comments was not news to you so lets hear some committed opinion on the way forward with Royal Mail.0 -

The amusement factor has gone and having read a number of your posts I think it highly unlikely that you are capable of adding value to this thread.0 -
