heated till piping hot and it was lush! much better than yesterday :-)
I always do my chilli (and bolognese and curry) in the SC and leave it out overnight to cool (SC pot won't fit easily in fridge). We then eat one portion and freeze the rest. It ALWAYS tastes better after leaving it, I think it marinates over time.0 -
Yes, the flavour of chillies and curries really does improve by being allowed to cool naturally (then refrigerated or frozen if required) and reheated. The chemical in chilli (capsaicin) is amazing stuff and there is some serious chemistry going on in there.
Also, try adding 1/2 a teaspoon per portion of ground cumin. It "rounds off" the rough edges of the chilli. Cumin comes from Asia, then the Spanish brought it with them to the New World, where it is now widely used in Tex-Mex cuisine.
And also try add 1/2 a square per portion of dark chocolate. Use cooking chocolate for preference, but dark eating chocolate will do. The small amount involved won’t make it taste like chocolate, but it will give it a smooth velvety texture. Chocolate comes from the New World, and is used there as an everyday cooking ingredient. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
I'm also one of the ones that leave the chilli, curry etc in the slow cooker for the next day, especially stew, cant beat a next day stew, or even the day after that, yumness!!0

I opened my fridge tonight and there was a big fly in it that must have got in the last time I opened it (around 6 hours ago). I have a plate of uncovered shelled hardboiled eggs and chances are the fly has been on them (yuck!). The fly wasn't moving around much, probably due to the cold but it is still giving me the heave.
Should the eggs be thrown out or are they ok to give to the dogs?
It would be more MSE to use them somehow but I can't stomach the thought of eating them.If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -
The dogs should be fine with them but I wouldn't eat them myself - Yuk - poor you!0
-
8 eggs, what a waste and all because I was too lazy to cover them up at the time. Lesson learned! If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0

Can't you wash them?0
-
I wouldn't eat them either - yuck!
I'm not sure the dog should have all 8 of them though0 -
I don't think you're being lazy, most of us would expect things to be safely out of harms way once we'd put them in the fridge.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
