Any way I can tell if still able to be eaten? No sell by/use by dates0 -
let your nose be your guide!
The standard answer is 3-5 days in the fridge, but honestly, if it's on the turn then it will really pong0 -
I have been stupid enough to leave 3 large blocks of cheese out of the fridge
I bought them YS at a real bargain and the bag went unnoticed when I unloaded the shopping and they have been out for 48 hours.
They are still in their packaging, obviously, and I am tempted to ignore the fact they have been out.
What would you do?
Many thanks0 -
I am of the opinion that cheese should never be kept in a fridge,so I would use it.

Personally I would ignore it and just check it when I opened them.0

i would open them sniff them then grate them and freeze them to use on pasta/sheperds pie/in sauces that way they'll keep longer as they've prob been sweating in the bag.DEC GC £463.67/£450

Cheese can pretty much look after itself. If it looks and smells as cheese should, it will be fine.0

As above. Cheese shouldn't really be in an airtight plastic bag and/or fridge in the first place.
Why do you think cheese was "invented", discovered or whatever. It was a way of preserving milk. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
So long as it hasn't got hot and "sweaty" then I'd certainly keep it and eat it. I remember Delia sating if you've bought lots of cheese (for Christmas for example) and the weather outside is cool you can even keep it in your car boot - that made me laugh as I don't own a car and have ever bought that much cheese!A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0

There is far too much concern about this kind of thing altogether. When my mam was alie there were no fridges. The milk in bottles was placed on a sink full of cold water, cool larders were used, and so on, and so on.
As for cheese, it will be fine. Cheese that is at room temp tastes SSSOOO much better than from the fridge anyway.
Bag it up and refrigerate now, or decant and divide and freeze for another time.
We are far too worried about things like this, and I reckon we are getting too many illnesses and infections from being too clean. Our immune systems can't cope.
Now before you eat me, I keep a tidy house, not sure if it's pristine though, and I haven't had a cold or cough etc or ten years. And I am being honest about that. Sniffles or two, yes, ut nothing major.0
