Great idea, I know I always look for sweet stalls at markets (anything sugar based!), but before going any further you need to look at your profit margins.0

yep, loads of jars, retro sweets, sherbert, liquorice, millions, jazzies, all that stuff. Oh, and a slushie machine for the summer . We had a little shop selling this kind of stuff a couple of years ago in the city centre, I loved it and so did the kids. . Could you maybe do cupcakes and fudge as well? Just thinking of loads of sweet stuff all together, which might tempt customers to buy more sweet stuff from you . 0 . 0

I wish I did not read this post now, because I have been pondering for the past 6+ hours to go to the shop and buy £10 worth of sweets, but I cannot be bothered to come out of the warm house!! LOL
If you did a courier service, you would be quids in! LOL
This is the other side of the coin - it would be very money-saving-esque for me too.... Nothing like a splurge on your fav sweets..... and it stops me telling fibs that they are for my little boy - as I pile the flying saucers, gobstoppers, wham bars etc into a paperbag!!Sealed Pot Challenge No. 2860

I used to make a beeline for the sweet stall when I was a kid and used to go into town with my parents on a Saturday morning.
I say go for it, something like this is definitely worth a shot and it could be a real winner!
Can I also suggest mix up bags ready made up, that was one of the best selling things at our local papershop on the way to school too. Idea for people to buy for their children/grandchildren etc. as a wee treat.0

Another vote for hygiene being vital, I wouldn't buy 'open' sweets and would be put off by the faffing with scoops and stuff. Prefer ready bagged. As I spend a lot of time on the road I often have a bag to hand, wine gums, American hard gums, fruit pastilles something chewy and mouth watering but lasts a while. Usually from Lidl or Aldi. Actually I usually have 2 or 3 bags on the go for variety so how about big bags you have mixed a variety in already? To be honest a lot of the stalls don't seem that good a value so it a toss up between low turnover high margin or the other way round as to which works best. Good luck!0

Not without food hygiene certs, public liability insurance and a kitchen that's been approved by the council.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

The stall sounds like an excellent idea; I'd certainly buy from you - we've got no stalls (or shops!) that 'do' sweets at all around here.
 And the most important thing?
DON'T forget to stock the Pink Shrimps and Sweet Bananas! "I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille...."0 "I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille...."0

Pink shrimps - tick! Bananas - tick! Cherry lips - tick!
My list is getting longer lol.
Thanks for all your ideas - much appreciated.
Please keep them coming.Sealed Pot Challenge No. 2860
