I phoned Stroud & Swindon who said that they've been advised that £115 is a fair charge (I paid £120) so I responded by saying that it was not and they said they would be writing to me. To date I haven't received any communication from them. Have you had any replies as to what their exit fee is? I feel I should be paid back more than £5.0 -
Called Halifax on the number on the table, I had no details of my mortgage with me. The nice lady sorted it all out at her end. She advised I was over charged £100 as I should of been charged £75. I have to sign and return a final settlement letter then a cheque will be sent to me. Many thanks Martin, will raise my glass to you on holiday with my extra spending money :beer:0

I phoned CBS and asked for the fee back. The bloke on the other end stated that they always only charge what they say they charge, but if I wanted to, I could write in and ask for them to investigate my claim. he then quoted their name and address in which he gave a slightly different Postcode to the one listed in the Mortgage Lenders Table. He quoted CV3 9YR not the 2YR as listed. I will go through the letter procedure and update later....
Cheers

We were luckey enough to pay our mortage off early only to be hit with £295 fee for doing so by Allince & Leicester, so i used the template letter off this site to complain, the reply was a total fob off so i wrote again telling them i had been with them for twenty years always paid on before the due date i also said that the fee was a penlty and unfair i also asked them for a brake down of the costs to A & L to close the account. well what a result we recived a refund £287.50 and a nice letter saying that they were now only going to charge us the 1987 fee

You should be pleased you are only paying £115 net, rather than annoyed at only getting £5 back! £115 is a very low exit fee.0 -

The original fee would have been next to nothing, ASSUMING that you didn't switch product over those very many years. If you did switch, it's the fee at the time of the latest switch which matters.
In any case, you DO NOT need to know what amount you should be claiming. Simply contact your lender at the time of redemption and ask them to repay any amount they've over-charged you.0
