We are in the process of moving our mortgage and last week I was told by the Leeds that the redemption fee was £199. Today I was told that it would be whatever was quoted in the original documents ie £60.
  • Re Mortgage Exit Fees - Additional Borrowing

Anyone know if they can charge extra if you have taken out additional borrowing during the term of the mortgage? I have been trying to claim back the difference between £225 whichh is what Abbey charged me last year and whatever it was when I signed the mortgage documents in April 97. Didn't move in until October 97. When I wrote to them last July after redeeming in June, they didn't reply until I had sent them 4 letters and not until January this year. I called them to find out what was going on and they said they wrote to my old address even though I had given them my new one! They said they would send copies of the previous letter(s) and they never did. They have now sent me a form asking me if I had additional borrowing. I did, but is this relevant? Surely they have the information from my mortgage account number. I am not sure what to do and want to fill the form out asap.

RE C& G - Additional borrowing - mortgage exit fees

I redeemed a tiny mortgage with the C&G in August 2000. I had taken out additional borrowing of £1000 and was then charged two exit fees of £50. I queried it at the time and was told those were the charges. Called them today and they said they didn't have the account on file but I could write in.
So I guess they are prepared to look into the archives if you write but not if you phone.

  • Notts BS claim that at the time of my mortgage application they had a £50 Release Fee plus a £40 fee for sending the deeds out to me. Now they just have the one fee.
Therefore they have refunded £85 (the £175 I was charged less £90) rather than the £125 I was hoping for.
Nevertheless, a result I wouldn't have had without this web site.
    Thanks

    and @MartinB and @Nightfox.

This thread is to report errors in the listing of lender exit fees. It's not a thread to ask general questions about exit fees. If you re-post your questions in the right thread here and delete the post in this thread, I'll answer them.

Please add the Cheshire BS. I was quoted £150 over the phone (still waiting for written confirmation) but I can't find any mention of the exit fee in my mortgage offer so I would like to know if this is correct.

  • I rang them this afternoon on the dedicated phone line shown on this website and they are sending me a refund - no hassle. I asked about interest on the sum adn they said they weren't offerring any although this website says they are. Thanks anyway for the tip. I am £100 better off than I was!
