I have just reclaimed £100 from Halifax.

I did not have to fill in a form, they agreed my claim and are sending me a cheque from just one 2 minute phone call !! Unfortunately they didn't offer me interest on the fee as stated in the article but not to worry as I only paid it 5 months ago.

    Thanks !
  • Out of interest - when did your mortgage with them run from and to? What were your exit fees? It looks like I have paid a redemption sealing fee of £150 plus a deeds release fee of £75 back in 2002

Was this about the same as yours?

Well Martin - You have done it again:-

Halifax completed the process while on the phone, 10 minutes and they had confirmed owed monies £60.00

Natwest completed the process while on the phone, 10 minutes and they had confirmed owed monies £140.00

    Just like a banker £10.00 per minute x 20 minutes = £200.00

Re the nationwide, they only seem to be dealing with queries by writing a letter therefore the telephone number is not necessary and wastes a bit of time

  • The 0845 phone number given for Alliance and Leicester redirects you to 0870 901 1001, which does eventually get you through to someone who can help.

The Woolwich / Barclays number was a doddle. They immediately worked out what we were owed and will pay it direct to our account within 5 working days - result! :j
