What stops you going to the cinema?

I choose K) None of the above, it's more so the travelling involved for me to get to said Cinema, it's about an Hours bus journey each way.0

Only 2 or 3 films per week have subtitles so it's pretty hit and miss if the film you want will be one of the ones shown. I go where I can, but I've missed lots of films I really wanted to see because of this.0

That's one Titanic question!is that with or without enough lifeboats ?
It's because voters can pick more than one option: there might be a variety of reasons that are cumulatively or synergistically offputting. For goater's benefit :rotfl:Just a question on the mathematics of the poll ?
At present the two leading items are 60% and 40% respectively.
Well to me that makes 100% with still 8 more options to add ?Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Last time I went to the cinema was to see K-9 at RAF Rhiendahlen around 1991 ish.Prefer to wait till it comes out on DVD,plus it's a 40 mile round trip to Belfast where the nearest decent cinema is.0

The worst things about going to the cinema for me are:
- Antisocial behaviour (often groups of teenagers making too much noise, throwing food, putting feet on seats, etc.)
- Dirty environment (people drop their nacho boxes, spill food on the seats, etc.)
- Unreasonable policies (no outside food/drink, no bags, all bags will be searched, etc.)
- Poor quality audio/video (it's *so* variable between different cinemas)
- Overpriced refreshments of very low quality.
- Poor choice of films (rare to see anything other than predictable Hollywood "blockbusters").
I don't go very often!0 -
Any fair poll should have all options covered, otherwise the results are meaningless.
It's impossible to have all options, so what is wrong with only having options that are relevant to the question being asked?, and this poll was very specific in that it was asking people who didn't go to the cinema, their reasons for this.
Either you are just arguing for the sake of it goater, or you really don't understand the two bits that are shown above in bold, in which case I honestly can't believe your claim about writing polls.0 -
I don't go to the cinema much because going means I have to take the wife and she insists your kids have to come too and then it get's really costly.
The seats are really uncomfortable unless you pay more, the length of the adverts is annoying, if I need a pee I miss some.
Watching a movie at home means I can be comfy, pause when needed, go for a coffee etc.
Oh, and I'm no longer allowed to go papow, papow pappow pow pow....

You can have more than one answer.
My biggest annoyance at the moment is 3D films. I don't see them very well (due to an astigmatism) and that means I end up leaving 20 minutes in if I try to watch one or end up feeling very unwell.
So many cinemas aren't getting the 2D versions - last time I tried to find a 2D version of something I really wanted to see it was 150 miles away!
Plus our local charges £9 for 2D these days. I think 3D is £11 or more!0 -
Aint been for donkeys, last time me and the missus went our local was about £7(?) per person plus extortionate costs for snacks and heavily watered and ice crammed drinks, sticky floors, uncomfortable seating inc no legroom, poor sound and im sure the adverts and trailers were longer than the film itself.
Nowdays we just wait for it to come out on dvd and buy it when its about £3 in the shops or til someone we know is daft enough to pay full price and borrow it off them. No film is worth best part of £30-50 once you've paid for everything. (Tickets, refreshements, travel etc).0 -

No I understand the bold. Just down the pub so can't really address all points. I have no issue with you as I like your points, however any poll must always have a get out or positive answer.
Otherwise you can have a poll that just says something like "why don't you like ethnic minorities?". Without a positive option it appears everyone would hate ethnic minorities. However in reality the poll only covers a small racist minority do I'd in fact useless
I think cinemas would like to know if azari's topics were an issue. However without weighing it against positive factors it's pointlessThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
