Flawed poll maybe, but I bet you still voted?

The whole experience is one big ripoff.
    • 10p per minute booking line
    • 75p credit/debit card charge per ticket (well over 10%)
    • Minimum ticket about £5 if you are a pensioner going in the afternoon otherwise £7.50 each
    • Rip-off coke and popcorn
    • You pay all this money and you get adverts!
    • Uncomfortable seats if you are over 6 feet tall.
    • Rubbish sound
I'll wait a while and buy the DVD for less than the cost of two of us going and we can watch it as much as we like, when we like.

And you can lie down on the settee while watching it :)

I didnt answer your poll as I DO still go to the pictures perhaps twice a month, I don't buy their sweets i take my own stuff if i want anything but usually we are dining out after the film so stuffing our faces during a film is not an option.

Much of those costs can be avoided though. You don't have to book nor do you have to pay in advance. I only ever occasionally have a cup of tea or coffee, there's no way I'd buy the food. You can arrive 20 minutes after the start time to avoid the ads and trailers if you want. Personally I avoid the ads but watch the trailers and every cinema I've asked has been totally up front about how long the pre-programme lasts.

Luckily at my cinema the seats are comfy and the sound's good, so I guess I don't have those particular problems. I agree it can be expensive though, but fortunately I can go in the day when it's cheaper.

But as for the other stuff, you can avoid paying it and you can turn up later.

That should be an option! That annoys me, having to get up even during adverts to let the late people go by/find a seat.

I pay to see a film, not 10 minutes of adverts. Therefore I am not 'late' if I arrive before the start of the film. If you object to people turning up during the adverts then I'd suggest that you don't have the necessary disposition to be sat in a room with other members of the general public. Stay at home ;)

My friends husband is deaf and we have to go to special subtitled screenings sometimes. Do those not exist near you?

Not that I'm aware of. I've never seen any ads for subtitled films and there's no mention of it on the cinema listings websites.

On a more serious note this whole post implys that people are put off going to the cinema.

How you can have a poll without at least one positive option e.g "nothing puts me off going to the cinema" is just ridiculous.

I find negative polls like this are pointless and ill thought out.

its a poll on reasons you dont go - this isnt for people who like going......

    Why is it ridiculous?

It is a poll asking people who don't go the cinema, their reasons for not going.
If there was a poll asking vegetarians why the chose that lifestyle, would you expect meat eaters to want to place a vote?
