What stops you going to the cinema?

Perhaps Goater should start his own Poll on "Why I do go to the cinema"
and one of the options could be " to meet sane unpredujiced people like himself""if the state cannot find within itself a place for those who peacefully refuse to worship at its temples, then it’s the state that’s become extreme".Revd Dr Giles Fraser on Radio 4 20170 -
I agree that there is room for improvement in the options. I am surprised that the price of refreshments is there for example: I can't understand why anyone would let that stop them when they can take their own - as I always do. Again, I agree about the sound is too loud, but I take earplugs. A major problem for me is the lack of fresh air: I am always afraid that I will get coughing fits.
For me, it isn't a question of what stops me going, but what induces me to go. The only reason is to see special effects on a large screen, preferably 3D and/or IMAX.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Other people basically - had too many films ruined by latecomers, mobile phone addicts, out of control kids (I don't care how much you wanted to see Harry Potter on release day - the 10pm start film is NOT a good idea with your fractious over-tired 6 year old), kiddie chairback kickers, people who need the entire plot constantly explained to them, teenage popcorn flickers...
Plus the seats are uncomfortable (especially for tall hubby) and the cost's got utterly ridiculous lately, and I hate the whole 3D fad - the glasses look ridiculous, they don't work well if you wear glasses anyway, and I'm sick of every single film having a mandatory "things flying out of the screen for our 3D viewers" segment every 10 minutes.
We pay out for a DVD postal dealie and we use that a heck of a lot - and if you keep your rental queue minimal you tend to get the new releases fairly quickly - only ever really go to the cinema for something we really really want to see on the big screen, or when hubby's parents are down as they lack good cinemas where they live so tend to make a point of seeing things they want to when they visit us.
Going on my own never bothered me - I used to go most weekends as a teenager and was often on my own doing it (but I've always been ok with my own company - even as quite a small kid).Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

It only needs validity if it is trying to show bias or favour one way or the other, which isn't the reason for the poll here.
If the poll was entitled
"what do you think of the Cinema"
and all of the options were biased towards people who don't go, then I would agree with your point, but this isn't the case.
The poll is aimed solely at people who don't go to the cinema and is not asking for input from current cinema users, so what positive option could be shown?
Surely if you used to write polls yourself, you can see the difference.
But the poll is entitled "what stops people going to the cinema?". Surely one of the answers should be nothing? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
The ONLY thing that puts me off now is the cost of the ticket. Other than that I really enjoy going.0

no it's not. It's actually entitled "what stops you going to the cinema?"
Surely one of the answers should be nothing?
Why do you find it so hard to understand that the poll is aimed at people who no longer go to the cinema?
If the OP wanted to know how many people still visited the cinema, they may have asked a totally different question such as
"Do you go to the cinema? and if not, what is your reason for not going"
Then having the option to state that you still go would make sense.
As the only person who doesn't seem to understand this point, I would be very interested in seeing some of the polls that you compiled.0 -
My one issue is that the cinema shop sells candy, food and drinks in wrappings that are just plain noisy.0

is that with or without enough lifeboats ?"I always go by boat" option."if the state cannot find within itself a place for those who peacefully refuse to worship at its temples, then it’s the state that’s become extreme".Revd Dr Giles Fraser on Radio 4 20170 -
Just a question on the mathematics of the poll ?
At present the two leading items are 60% and 40% respectively.
Well to me that makes 100% with still 8 more options to add ?"if the state cannot find within itself a place for those who peacefully refuse to worship at its temples, then it’s the state that’s become extreme".Revd Dr Giles Fraser on Radio 4 20170
