I'm so pleased to know that's the case, Maz, it certainly makes sense that the two would make you feel darned rough. Still, onward from here, has a good feel to it somehow, and I know you're of the same mind.

JD, that was a fantastic post, so very motivating! After 6 months of being free from ciggies you say it all so well...(blow any spelling errors) we all get words wrong or make typos. Keep up the wonderful advice, JD, you too Chrissie, it all helps so very much in helping everyone. :T:T

I know it's on Page 1, but whilst I think of it and as it's been mentioned so much today, here's the link for the Silk Cut meter download http://www.silkquit.org/stop-smoking/quit-meter.aspx
Download one, everyone, it really does give terrific incentive to keep going and is amazing for letting you know how much you HAVEN'T smoked! :j
Sleep well folk, another day is almost over, a day closer to your goals.

Quit 16.7.2011 reduction,cold turkey
I re discovered stress 4 days ago when I pushed a few keys which I should not have done, and lost all internet.
Nicotine withdrawal was easy compared to losing Internet access.
But after shelling out a small fortune to people who speak a strange language I am back.
The only advice I can offer to those who wish to quit, remember you are dealing with two addictions,
Nicotine addiction this will last for 3 to 5 days after this you are no longer addicted to nicotine.
So you are left with the the habit for me this was easy, for others it is hard ,I have a neighbors daughter still sucks her thumb at 39 years old 10 years after quitting.
But if that is her comfort it is healthier than smoking.0 -
Hi Denis, it's really good to see you again!
You're still doing amazingly well, fantastic!!! :T :T :T
Don't we ever miss modern technology when it's snatched away by whatever means. I'm pleased to hear all's well now...though a shame it had to be a costly experience!
I think perhaps you, like me, had a small typo in the penultimate sentence, but I reckon you possibly mean the 'addiction' or habit of the actual hand to mouth habit/routine?
Yes, it can be a difficult one for a while, but also depends on the person. I found a pen/pencil did the trick for me and didn't last long, but I can quite see how some folk might revert to sucking the thumb, especially if it had been a habit in childhood. Whatever, as you rightly say, if it keeps her from the fags, then good luck to her and she will probably soon find she no longer has the need for it.
It' always good to see you, Denis, remember we're we now are.

good morning,
bit of a chilly one up here today , but hope not to see too much of it as i am just off to bed after nght shift,
it was blowing a gale and raining hard during night, so glad i didnt have to battle to keep the fag dry while i got soaked
....remember it well the things one did for a fag break , and we were led to think it was to relieve stress and have a "break" not much pleasure when you reflect
have a great day whatever you choose

Sleep well JD:)
You're right the standing out in the cold and rain is something i don't miss, and actually looking back i feel kinda stupid for doing it:rotfl:but since when has smoking ever been a rational habit?
Happy Thursday to all - feeling good today even though am at work - have the radio on reasonably loud - no one in the office but little old me - plenty of tea on the go & a bit of skiving to mooch the internet;)
Have a fab smoke free Thursday
Hugs

It certainly does save a lot of money quitting smoking doesn't it QB?
I have to admit it was really due to my health that I stopped but the extra money to spend on treats for myself is a real bonus and incentive
i'm coming up to 4 months now, how long has it been for you QB?0 -
3 months for me cookie although in that time I have had a couple of slips 2 in my first week and 1 about 6 weeks in and 1 this week but really don't know why I bothered each time because I am happy with my other choice ! I know that cigarettes haven't got that debilitating hold on my like they have had in past occasions when I have quit ! Onwards and upwards for me . And a big thumbs up to anyone for what ever reason they decided to quit we are all a lot healthier for it and the bank balance is happier too.0
