Take care, Sue xMany, many congratulations on 7 months JD!!!
Well that was quick, JD  6 months a few days ago and now 7!!! I really am so thrilled for you. You've done marvellously!! I certainly agree with what you put in Daz's post too, so true.

All confused now... does this mean we're not supposed to comment on this thread now?
It's easier to post on a smaller thread, and from the start of it as people can feel like they are 'intruding' on a larger thread. I personally prefer not to comment on larger threads, especially if they have been a bit heated.
As for the 2 threads on the same subject not being allowed... this forum is full of them!!! Been smoke free for 4 years!! :beer:0 -
Please don't worry, Sal, given your feelings, you're absolutely fine on here, I promise you. I take your points on board completely and can see what you mean as sadly, the confliction has caused problems in the past. We're perfectly happy to have you here, you settled in so nicely straight away, so please feel safe, secure and in the right place to quit without problems.
Still using your own thoughts of possible Wedding day disasters when you have one of 'those moments' I hope.Don't forget melon, apples, oranges etc; thinking of it you could even make up a whole fresh fruit salad to pick at when a moment strikes, much more healthy than many other munchies for sure.
You really are doing so well, Sal, keep strong and focused at all times and you'll do just fine. Be proud of what you're doing, it's wonderful!

Well, As you know i failed dismally on the patches and have been to the doc to give Champix another go. It was definitely most successful for me but used the excuse of a break up to go back on them, what can I say, I'm weak!!!
Now, I can't remember getting such blinding headaches on Champix last time, but have spent most of the weekend in bed with what I would say is a blinder!!!! And that was before I doubled the dose. Blaady things better work after all this suffering :rotfl:
Up to double dosage today (day 4) and the headache is starting to ease, even managed several hours out of bed today :rotfl:
So I've decided on day 10 for stopping, that should give the higher dose a chance to kick in. Will be joining u all soon in the good battle4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
I tried with Champix last year, I couldn't put up with the side effects. They gave me headaches, nausea, mood swings. I preferred the fags! Now I'm on the patches the only effect is the slight itch when 1st applied and the very smooth hairless patch of skin on each leg where I put the patches! Very strange... maybe I should work my way down each leg! Been smoke free for 4 years!! :beer:0

Hiya Maz, good to see you back with us so soon and itching to start off again. Really sorry to hear you've had a rough weekend...all the best for relief from the pain. One thing to try helping with it is water - drink plenty of it, that way you'll at least be hydrated. For whatever reason you might not have drunk enough over the day/s before. My DD gets awful heads when she hasn't had enough fluid, she's now becoming wise enough to grab a glass every so often and hardly ever has a bad head as a result! :grinheart
One thing you never do, Maz, is fail and you're certainly not weak, you are a quitter through and through and never cease trying and there's so much to be said for someone who's so mentally strong and determined to quit. Take care with the pills......and always have food beforehand! Taken on an empty stomach you will get problems.
Please let is know how you're doing with them, Maz.
Sue x
I'm not surprised about the Champix side effects, Sal, many people suffer from them. Still, at least with the patches you can forget hair removal, just be sure not to leave a space each time you put the next one on!
Sue x
So good to see you back with us, JD.
Sue x
Take care everyone, stay strong and always praise yourself, even on short amounts of time without one, it's still success.

It's been 4 weeks today since my last cigarette!
I'm feeling really good about myself and not finding the cravings too difficult to deal with thankfully.
The weekend was probably the hardest so far as we were away in our motorhome and opened a couple of bottles of wine - the cravings were much stronger then! I was really pleased I'd put a huge carrot in the fridge - it was much more enjoyable than a cigarette:rotfl:. My OH ate so many crisps I think I'm going to have to "forget" to buy any more for a while, he's already beginning to get a bit of a tummy.
Must stock up on some more fruit and veg today when I go shopping. I ate about half a pineapple yesterday. I wonder what Aldi's Super 6 are this week.

WOW Denise, you really are doing marvellously!! Not only that, but you're doing everything you can to fight off any 'psychological cravings' and that's all they are at this stage...in our minds and left over by old Nic! So we ignore them, brush the feelings aside just as if it was a pesky fly...grab a carrot...go upstairs...look out of the window....dream of where you're taking your motorhome next time (ooh what DH & I would give to have one of those!!). Anything to distract you while the 'moments' last. Soon you'll find that the further away from smoking you get the less they will affect you and the weaker they are.
I've read your PM and you are extremely fortunate in having your DH & DDs to support you, they know exactly how you're feeling, and to know your loved ones support you is so important. You know you're also able to have wine and it not send you running off to the shops; so, wine in one hand...carrot in the otherand away you go. Talk to your family about your feelings at such times...or push your mind onto thinking about things that are really important to you. Always have beautiful thoughts at the ready to call on and you'll find it sooo much easier to push old Nic out of your mind!
BTW, Sal found that previously cut pieces of melon were good to distract her, any good for you? You could that with apples too - for your DH also!
4 weeks is amazing and you sound so strong, happy too, how close are you to your first month? That to me was a massive milestone. :j
Keep strong, Denise, you are doing GREAT!!!!! :T Don't forget to treat yourself, we all deserve rewards.
