Got back from shopping a couple of hours ago and have bought more carrots and satsumas. Got the other half pineapple cut up in the fridge and plenty of salad stuff. Just had a jacket potato and salad for lunch. So have got plenty to pick at if I need to.
Thanks so much for your support.

I've had a rubbish few days for cravings, but OH has been on a night shift so it's only because I'm bored! Kept up with the melon (and crisps and chocolate
) and haven't caved
My cold is slowly going so hopefully I will start feeling the benefits of quitting soon. Been smoke free for 4 years!! :beer:0 -
Hi all
Please can I join in. It's been 2 weeks and 2 days since I stopped using Champix. I'm really struggling with the side effects, I can cope with the nausea but the bad dreams are really freaky! I'm determined to stay stopped this time as it was getting to the point financially of feed the family or have a cigarette.
I find chewing gum helps as I am already overweight and want to stop snacking. If my mouth is minty it makes chocolate or crisps taste horrible.
Well done to all of you on here, you give me inspiration and help me to stay strong.
Thanks0 -
Wonderful news, Denise, you're really helping yourself, me too as I thought of you and Sal when in the supermarket this morning and bought some carrots, melon and apples to help keep the weight down! Before shopping went for a really lovely walk in the country park, by golly I'm good! You're so welcome to the support, it's a pleasure.

Hi Sal, sorry to hear about the cravings, though understandable when they're caused by boredom. First question - have you remembered to pop your patches on? If so, try to keep as busy as is possible and preferably by doing something you enjoy; any old hobbies you can start again - or any new ones you could have a go at?
If you've got any exercise dvds then have a good workout. That really would do you go as it releases endorphins into the brain. We girls have enough problems with hormones as it is so if we can help ourselves in such ways that we can benefit from, so much the better, especially prior to and during the TOTM!If nothing else, go for a good, brisk walk as much as you like, it'll do you so much good and you'll feel much better....it'll also help your cold tons as it clears the sinuses. All so worth giving a go.
Meanwhile praise yourself for your great work (though crisps and chocolate??!), you deserve it! I do soon hope the cold is better.

A very warm welcome to the thread, trying to stay afloat or shall we say TTSA?!Of course you can join in. Very well done on having taken that huge leap to quit, you won't make a better move as it's a gift for you - the gift of LIFE!!! :j
People often get side effects with Champix, but all users of it say it doesn't last long, especially the dreams. Amazingly the men love the dreams (!!!), but not the girls, possibly to do with hormones perhaps. Now you've stopped taking the pills it honestly shouldn't be long in getting your dreams back to normal - again the guys hated that part!! It takes all sorts!Re the nausea, at regularly and you'll find a great benefit, especially at breakfast time which is so important.
Very well done on trying the gum, getting such great results too! It makes perfect sense too when you think about it, the same is true if you use a tiny piece of toothpaste, get a small bit on your finger, pop it in your mouth and swirl it around your mouth. Although you don't need one of my PMs for Champix there are still many tips in them so I'll send one to you.
It's good to hear that the posts of others are being so beneficial, keep reading them for inspiration, all being well, you'll soon be giving people help too, Sal & Denise too!
Stay as determined as you are now and you'll be feeling so thrilled with yourself..though you should be already! Please come on the thread as much as you like.

Hi Guys
Gosh a lot to catch up on since i was here last!
Huge well done to all those who have stopped or are trying to!:T:T
I'm no expert on Champix but i took it for approx 9 weeks when i quit last year. Without it i'd still be hanging about in doorways and slowly killing myself.
I had a few moody moments & tons of restless nights at first - but they didn't last past the 3 week mark
Despite it saying on the packet you don't need to have food to take them - ALWAYS eat something before you do & not just a biscuit, something reasonably filling (bowl of cereal/porridge in the morning and a decent meal in the evening) or you will feel lousy/sickly.
It also helped me to take them at exactly the same times every day - or as near as damnit where possible so you are taking the doses as evenly as you can.
I was a 30+ a day smoker and can honestly say that i still now cannot bear the smell of them - long after finishing the Champix - my OH is now relegated to outside smoking only:D - although he is allowed in the patio doorway if it's bucketing down - i'm not that harsh.
It's not the same for everyone, but try and give it a least a month if you can bear it - from my experience it was better once you were used to it & if it keeps you off the fags permanently - i think it's a small price to pay and it so worked for me in the long run.
But however you are doing it - keep on going. The benefits of being a non smoker far outweigh the pain we go through to get there.
Dare i say a bit like childbirth...:rotfl:at the time it's the worst ever - then afterwards you can't remember why you were so stressed - or again that's maybe just me being a bit strange;)
Well as it's actually sunny for once up here in Yorkshire - i think and go and do something constructive like tidy the garden - house is on the market this weekend eeek! - so getting prepared for the stampede of viewings:)
Hugs to all

Hi all,
thought I would pop in and say I've stopped smoking, after a few faltering attempts. I won't be contributing to the thread much as thinking about it only makes it worse for me. I've got a couple of weeks work of patches left and then I'll see how I go.
I was thinking - I can't possibly continue to spend over £80 a month on fags when my spending 'allowance' is only £60!:eek:
It doesn't make sense!

Thanks for the help with Champix. I thought I was the only one with weird dreams. I will persevere with them as I don't want to go back to 30 a day and nothing else seems to work.
One fab tool is the silk quit monitor as it really motivates me to see I have saved oved £100 already :T
Stick with it 166 million as the first 3 days are the worst0 -
Headache is still there, but nowhere near as severe as it was over the weekend. Looking forward to the weird dreams. Last time I tried Champix it was all about pine coffins. At least it reminded me to tell the kids to bury me in anything but pine!!! I really hate pine :rotfl: Put me in a cardboard box if u want, but not pine!!!
Joy oh Joy
Gonna stay positive though, I know I can do it!!!!4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -

Brilliant advice about Champix, Chrissie! Thanks so much for that, so there you are folks, straight from the horses mouth..in a manner of speaking, sorry Chrissie, you're a pal.Good to see you!
Good to her the house is going on the market, not to worry about the folk traipsing through the house as it's all part of it as you know. A bit like redecorating, it has to look a bally mess first before you get it looking good - also much like quitting!

A very warm welcome to the thread, 1 66million! No worries at all about not coming on the thread, we've had a small number of people like that in the past. Each to their own and you must do what you find best. Having said all that, you know where we are if you need us, please do shout rather than risk going back!!
I see you're a member of the SPC, good for you! Most people find it a great advantage to save the money they would normally have spent on fags - but if you're unable to because you need it then jot down how much you don't save and view it regularly, it's a great incentive! BTW, I'll send you a PM which has quite a bit of advice and tips, do have a read, if it helps keep you away from those nasty little blighters, it's definitely worth it.

Brilliant advice TTSA!! See how quickly you're able to help others as well as yourself, terrific!

Keep it going everyone, it's all so worth it when you've achieved what you though you never really would.

Excellent commitment, Maz!!! If the headaches persist then do have a word with your Dr or Pharmacist.
As for the pine, those dreams must have given you the needle so to speak. You're a right funny beggar at times! It's good to have a joker.
Take care of that head!!
