Thanks for all the advice and the PM.
I can't stop eating and am feeling very moody and anxious. This is what normally gets me. I have been keeping myself busy and drinking lots.
I even had a half hour nap in hopes to feel better.
I have a night in alone with no kids to look forward to... would normally spend most of my time out smoking. What else can I do?0 -

RainbowDreamer, don't worry too much about the eating for now as it'll help with the moodiness. Having said that, try apples, oranges, any fruit is helpful as it takes time to peel and eat.
Don't you have any hobbies? Try going out for a walk, it'll do you good as walking helps release endorphins into the brain which give you a real good feeling. How about exercise dvds, do you have any so you can exercise indoors? If not try to get one. Sewing, knitting? Listen to music that you love, put it on then lie on the sofa and let your mind go to beautiful places. Read a book, watch the TV and put your feet up ~ relax.
The internet is full of ways to learn different skills/hobbies, have a mooch around and see what you can find. If you still haven't smoked yet then be so very, very proud of yourself - you're on your way which is great!!!
Be so proud of yourself Rainbow! Have a look through the posts on the old thread and see how others got through the worst days, there's much there to inspire you. Try a blob of toothpaste on your tongue and swirl it round your teeth.
Remember one important thing: you are not giving anything up - you are only gaining ~ health, money, being a great example to your kiddies. Read through all the reasons to stop in the 1st post above, that's all well worth a read.
These first day, as you know, are only natural, look forward to getting past them and looking at a while new life ~ you can do this!

Hi Katie!! Thanks so much for the kind words, but things had to change a it's awful on the other one now, very sad, but we're off to a great start and you came back on just the right day! It's so very good to see you giving it another go, and ~ if you can do it for a month ~ you can do it for good!
Do you know what it was that made you give in last time? If you do it's half the battle as you'll know what to avoid or when to stay stronger this time round.
Keep posting, Katie and let us know about the rough times, it's then you need help!
Best wishes, Sue xthank god I'm not the only one who feels like that! Sometimes I feel so wound up I want to cry! It's like PMT but worse.
Sal, if that's how you're feeling then please, always give into the tears; we need to give way to our emotions, it's only natural. The same with some people wanting to scream, hold a pillow to the face and SCREAM! It won't be heard as the pillow absorbs the sound. So, have yourself a good cry, you too RainbowDreamer and I bet you feel so very much better.
All these feelings don't last long, but you're bodies are going through many changes, accept it and just ride the waves and you'll soon find yourselves feeling much, much better. Look ahead too, to feeling so good that you gave it up. Determination and courage are key to a successful quit!

I had this really badly too. I was moody and depressed, felt I had lost my constant companion in life. How would I fill the hours? I looked at a couple of the links in Sues first post and one explained how stopping smoking was like a bereavement and you go through all the emotions.
I don't think there's a fast track through it but please understand that 'this too shall pass' and you will come out the other side feeling normal again. Once you have been long enough without the little nicotine stick in your hand, you realise that it isn't your best friend, you can live without it and that you much prefer your cleaner life.
Hope it passes soon for you. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

hello Sue-uu ( wavey wave )
A very good afternoon one and all
I am delighted to see a brand new thread and wanted to share that, despite my absence on the old one in recent times , i am still very much quit :j:j and plan to blummin stay that way
to all those thinking of stopping you have truly found a fine place to be , the advice and support from both recent and long term quitters is inspirational
we all have been there and know how hard it can be, dont feel like you are giving up , but gaining so much more
and if you wobble never stop giving it a go , you will get there . take each hour , day at a time and importantly reward yourself for saying NO to old nic
for me ts not been the easiest ride , i had given up for 9 months then started again ,(theres always an excuse eh)
but this time i am determined am not going to put myself through the wave of cravings and plannning my life around when and where i can smoke ever again
free yourself ...you know you are worth it

Hi all. Wow, it's so nice hearing from other people who understand how I feel!
I had a bit of a wobble this morning. I'd not had a patch on for 3 days, but woke up this morning with PMT and could feel myself growing angry and irate. I'd planned to have a girlie day shopping with my mum, sister and niece so stuck a patch on as I didn't want to spoil their day. Had a fab day in the end (picked my niece's bridesmaid dress) and feel a lot calmer now. Although I think blowing the £180 I haven't spent on fags was great therapy!
It was 6 weeks at 10pm last night so that felt rather good. Looking forward to the 2 month mark:beer: Been smoke free for 4 years!! :beer:0 -

very welll done :T its so good to have something to show for that money that would of literlaly been up in smoke
great too that you recognised a potential trigger and did something about it rather than give in to nic knocking on your door
keep up the good work sounds like you are doing fine and dont beat yourself about putting on a patch at this early stage maybe you ahve been pushing yourself hard and stopped them sooner than you needed
keep it up
