So what are you doing about it?

You've listed six things there as examples of why things are bad, getting worse, and, presumably unlikely to get better. Do you notice that you don't have any control over anyone of them.

I don't spend too much time worrying about any one of those things - what's the point?

Much better to influence the things you can rather than worry about those you can't.
There is nothing I can do about it. It is all part of the ride. However they are very important issues that have great influence over us all. The things I do have control over are not a worry. The economy is on a slippery slope and not improving.

As for the 50-70, as stated, over and over again to you chucky, and I even had JohnnyBravo backing me up
It's good to see that you need positive reinforcement to make you feel better.

So are you saying that people should or shouldn't listen to the scaremongers?

There is a big difference between pessimism and being realistic. Unfortunately the economy is a mess and not improving.

What does it mean to say you have the intellect of a realist, how do you know?

I've yet to meet someone who claims to be a non realist.

Is this similar to people all claiming they have agsoh?

They should look around and see the World. Currently the UK is vulnerable.

What specific information tells you the slope is pointing down?

Would you have known in lets say July 1980, that the slope was infact turning upwards?

How would a realist have known slope direction in July 1980?

Pessism is not realism and neither is optimism. They are emotions. Take the emotions out and it is easier to see (for some take the rose tints off too!)

Yes I agree, but what about the other side of the coin, which tells us much of the world is booming?
Why take notice of the downside and largely ignore the upside, is that realistic?

There is no doom. Things are just slow, that's all. It will pick up. Just keep throwing your spare cash into that FTSE tracker 'cos it's cheap innit?

Just eat your Weetabix every morning and...

No! Wait! That's yet another company taken over by China .........

The pressure placed on the economy are in excess of its capability to grow and the foundation for which to allow growth is missing. In other words the economy is constrained and vulnerable. Remove the threats and the boom will return. Some of the threats are those I listed previously.
