    Hi all.

Great website, only just found it mind.

Quick question - am i being greedy?

Originally i was paying £35.50 for Phone (Large), TV (Large) and Broadband (Medium).

After speaking to the customer services lad i'm now paying £34.95 for Phone (XL), TV (XL) but Broadband is still as it was (Medium).

In your educated opinions is it worth me phoning back to try to get the broadband upgraded or should I be happy with what i've got?

    cheers

Heaveho, that is exactly what I have got, apart from £10 pm for the V+ box, and I am very happy with that. I am content with my BB speed, and very happy with Anytime free calls. After all, if you work out that BB on its own is £18pm and the phone line rental is £11 (approx) pm,,the TV and the calls cost you about a fiver a month!.

I must those who got discounts are lucky.I was told to get off by staff at Virgin for complaining.I have other issues pending with them eg they fogot to add international call saver when i fisrt signed up and no surprises that my call was the one not recorded. Also am chasing them for a breakdown of calls below 50p the invoice says my family makes abt 300calls a month,if that is the case why would I move to Virgin n save £10 a month from BT.
Can anybody make sense of this!!!

    What's this all about?

If you're a Virgin Media customer (the renamed NTL/Telewest) you've lost your Sky channels. So call 'em up, complain and see what you can get!

    The Details

Virgin Media announced from 1 March all Sky non-premium channels (Sky One, Sky Travel, Sky News and Sky Sports News) would no longer be provided in its digital TV packages. Premium services, such as Sky Movies and Sky Sports, haven't been affected. Let's ignore the thorny question of whether Sky or Virgin are to blame, it means you've lost some major channels.

    What has Virgin said?

Virgin Media has publically stated it won't lower prices to compensate, rumours are flooding round that by complaining directly you could grab yourself six months of either up to 46 extra channels for free or half price tv service.

    What to do

Simply, give Virgin Media a call. Either dial 150 via your Virgin Media landline or call 0800 0529403. Then explain that these channels were a signifcant reason you became a customer and you feel you're losing out. While it probably won't cut the price, ask for replacement channels.

Depending on the package you already have, it's possible you'll be offered a six months free upgrade to the L or XL package, or if you already subscribe to XL, it may offer it to you at half price for six months. There are no guarantees, but be polite and use a little chutzpah.

If it doesn't work, for other ways to slash the cost, read the article Digital TV Cost Cutting.

HI!, I HAVE BEEN WITH NTL FOR 12 YEARS, WITH FULL TV PACKAGE, PHONE, BROADBAND AND NOW VIRGIN MOBILES. I PHONE 2 WEEKS AGO TO SAY THAT MY HUSBAND WANT TO CHANGE TO SKY SINCE SKY ONE IS HIS FAVORITE CHANNEL, (TRUE) AND THAT SINCE I DO NOT LIKE CHANGES, IF THEY COULD GIVE ME A GOOD DEAL TO CONVINCE MY HUSBANK NOT TO CHANGE OVER TO SKY. ALL THEY OFFERED ME WAS A PACKAGE WHERE CALLS AT EVENING AND WEEKENDS ARE FREE TO LANDLINES!!!! WHICH WE DO NOT USE HARDLY EVER. i DECIDED TO WRITE TO HEADOFFICE WITH MORE OR LESS SAME STATEMENT (PLUS) AND I HAVE NOT HEARD NOTHING AT ALL, EVENTHOUGH I PAY A MONTLY BILL OF @ £175 TO THEM.
I AM THINKING OF PHONING AGAIN AND TRY JUST TO DISCONNECT, WHICH THE FIRST MAN I SPOKE TO WAS WILLING TO DO, WHEN ALL HE OFFERED WAS THE 'FREE LANDLINE CALLS'. ANYTHING ANYBODY CAN THINK OF PLEASE, WILL BE APPRECIATED. REGARDS, YOLANDA

No need to shout - we are listening. Caps Lock is the button on your keyboard next to A .

How are you managing to spend £175 per month, if you don't mind me asking? Rather than calling normal customer services, phone retentions (150 then follow instructions for thinking of leaving Virgin Media - or 0800 052 9403 option 3). Tell them that you are considering leaving given the amount of your bill and the loss of Sky. They have generally been quite good with deals (assuming that you are outside the 12 month contract).
