If you don't, try updating your Orchid's day/time manually:
To manually reset the clock in a V4, lift the handset and 'dial' the following:
** # 0 0 0 0 * hh mm DOW dd mm yy *2
N.B. The DOW (Day Of Week) entry is a single digit:
Monday = 1
Tuesday = 2
Wednesday = 3
Thursday = 4
Friday = 5
Saturday = 6
Sunday = 7
** # 0 0 0 0 * 1 9 3 0 2 1 3 1 1 0 7 *2 (then hang up).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
That fixed it

When I update my dialler (say after clocked changed) I disconnect any phone except for one wired phone direct into dialler.
Dial * * * 1 2 # 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 * 3 then replaced the handset.
Then lift up handset and press the redial key. Immediately after it has redialled replace the handset.
That way works for better me.0 -
I have had a Gotalk for some time now and subscribe to the Heinz programme (many thanks once again, Heinz!)
{Strange though, I never receive the update email from Orchid???}
However, I can not get it to call home. I have manually put in the date, and have reset it and still it does not work.
I am not getting the 18185 message when calling out and Caller Display does not work. I have read and reread all the posts but can not find a solution.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
When you do the reset, do you get BT message about service not available? On some of the 5 steps, I do, but not all of them.0 -

I'm a little confused by your reference to Gotalk - that appears to me to be a prepay provider which doesn't fit in with the Heinz Program - which assumes an Orchid V4, V4+ or Ranger 400, BT Together Option 1 and a CPS calls provider giving free evening and weekend UK 01/02 calls (or BT Together Option 2 and no CPS calls provider).
If you expect to receive the email from Orchid whenever the program is changed (the last was sent on 30-7-07), you have to be signed up to 'the system' - see HERE - so your dialler and email address are registered.
With regard to your apparent problem with your dialler not calling home, I'd say it needs a complete reset (don't worry, it's not as drastic or difficult as it sounds).
On Page 23 of the Quick Start User Guide the 5 steps are detailed but, to save you time, they are:-
Lift Handset & dial
**# 0000 * 01536207810 * 1
Replace handset
Lift Handset & dial
**# 0000 * 1 * 8
Replace handset
Lift Handset & dial
**# 0000 * 0 * *
Replace handset
Lift Handset & dial
**# 0000 * 0 * 7
Replace handset
Finally Lift Handset & dial ***12#4567890*3 (this is the 'Force Home' procedure)
Replace handset
The red LED on the V4 should now flash for at least 60 seconds. If it stops after 20 seconds or so, the Force Home has failed.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Hello Heinz and thank you for replying.
Gotalk is one of the Orchid phones - same as the Ranger etc. I have been signed up with Primus and 18185 for almost a year now and it all seemed to be working fine apart from Caller Display. Even had BT check the line. It is only within the last few days I have realised that I am not hearing the 18185 message.
I am signed up to "the system".
Have tried the complete reset - a few times - but still no joy. The phone will not Force Home - (***00000000*3).
I posted in the hope that you (or someone) may have had a similar problem. I am SO confused.0 -
Apologies. I'd never heard of the Gotalk (although Ranger and Televoice are names I know). Of course, I should've quoted the Ranger Force Home sequence too in step 5.
I'd say it'll be necessary to talk it through with Toby or Maggie now (01572 717888 during the week). My Ranger got confused a few months back (when I tried a stupid update to my program via CW Client) and Toby sorted it out for me in a few minutes on the phone (you could find out why you're not getting the emails too when you call).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Heinz,
Thank you for trying and for all your help along the way. I will call them.0 -
Has anyone else found calls are not being routed correctly by time of day? Currently my calls to Kenya are going through on the Weekday Daytime routing only since last night. I have tried to get it to call home and it has done successfully but its still the same - is it just me who has that issue? I'll try the full reset in case there's a glitch in the dialler later on too and report back.
UPDATE: A reset didn't work (calls still routed via the weekday daytime provider) but resetting the time manually did. Is there a problem with the clock at the update line the Orchid uses perhaps?0
