  • ok, so after ordering a lego set & watch from amazon black friday, i remebered that my xmas shopping was officially finished a few weeks ago, but they were too good a deal to miss, so i then spent afternoon tidying bedroom and putting an empty box on top of my wardrobe which is my xmas 2013 box!
    sad? probably... organised? most definatly...
nearly nearly time to put the decs up!

It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.
  • welcome back rosy girl - can I post a pic of my tree?? Does anyone want to see??

Been looking at the 'Bourne' box set on blu-ray for hubby for Christmas as at the moment HMV is winning the price war by miles - does Tesco/ Sainsbury normally price match to them cause obviously the points would be a nice bonus.

Yes please, I want to see everyone's tree and decorations. Then I'll feel really Christmassy. So yes, it's your duty to show us!

  • For those of you reading Christmas books I have just read a wonderfully christmassy book called Mistletoe and magic - I originally got it as a free book on Amazon but think it is being charged for again now. It's 2 books in one - the first is completely filled with Xmas and decorations and trees etc and a happy ending!

  • I would love to see some decorations too :)

We usually put ours up the weekend before my birthday (14th), but as that is also what should have been my due date, I need some extra special early Christmas attention. For the first time ever, they will be going up on the 1st Decemeber! Christmas is always bittersweet for me as we should have a toddler and almost newborn by now - I just struggle a little when I see all the parents having a lovely time with their children and making memories.

Will just have to dress the dogs up instead ;)

  • it looks a bit angled but I don't think it actually is.

I wanted a silver star but DS1 insisited it had to be gold.

despite the baby pen Ds2 sticks his hands thro and pulls the baubles off so DH is going to try and make a table for it to stand on.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

I'm sure your dogs won't mind (much)! :rotfl:

My birthday is 16th- when I was little, mom always put the tree up ready for my birthday. It made it all more special.
Now I would just like to have a birthday where I didn't feel I had to go out to buy Christmas gifts for others. Maybe this year will be it?

chickywiggle loving the tree, and the tinsel around the playpen!

Ive made some today too, been in the fridge for maybe 2 and a half hours and it looks good, might even be ready to try rolling although im leaving it a little longer to be sure. Used the recipe that was posted on here, 200ml double cream and 200g plain choc.

Thats the one I used too. Ended up adding 50g unsalted butter and some hot chocolate powder and put back in the fridge for about an hour and is PERFECT :T Have them all rolled and in little bun cases made about 40 in that batch now back in the fridge to finish off ready to take to work tomorrow :D

Have tried a white chocolate batch as well, will need to add icing sugar or something as its not setting as well. Happy to leave these overnight though to see if that happens (in no rush to mess up my hands again rolling them out lol) How has yours turned out?

    Hello
    Apologies for my absence!

carlamarie I am so incredibly sorry for your loss, I can't imagine the pain you must be going through right now. Thinking of you and your family x

I watched Arthur Christmas the other day - I was trying hard to hold out for Christmas eve but I was having a bad day (which seems so insignificant now!) and I decided to treat myself to watch it. I was actually quite disappointed! So I sold it on eBay and make back all but £1 of my money! (Well assuming they are going to pay at some point!)

Hubby picked up our free advent calendars from Lidl today, we now have 2 each and I am like a greedy child, openly thrilled about the fact I get to open 2 advent calendars everyday! (one morning, one night) as I had already purchased our usual ones before I knew about the freebie.

Also we had a BOGOF voucher for Costa and as my SPD has been unbelievably bad I haven't been able to do anything that I wanted to i.e watch the Christmas lights get switched on or walk around the Christmas fayre so hubby treated us to a Costa and I had the Black Forest Hot Chocolate - it was divine! But at 487 calories not something I intend on repeating until next year LOL. I have asked him if he will treat me to the Gingerbread latte when the baby is born LOL (I love Costa but only get one on special occasions as a real treat!)

We ate our Festive friends and our hollow santas the other day ROFL so I am going to have to replace those (but not until the weekend before Christmas or they will end up eaten again)

Also Mum has made me a mini Christmas Cake and 7 Mince Pies (one for every day of Christmas week)

We need to buy stamps, write our cards, buy last minute food and wrap a few presents but mainly now we are just waiting for little man to make his appearance.

I really hope everyone is keeping well, I will try to keep up with as much of the thread as I can.

Oh and 2 of my friends already have their Christmas decorations up, trees and EVERYTHING!!! I still have no idea where mine is going as my living room seems over run with baby stuff. But it is not going up until a week after the baby is here out of fairness to him this is the rule we have made from now on. Though I have told hubby it may well be his job this year!! (Though I'm not sure my OCD would cope with that LOL!!!!)
Everything is always better after a cup of tea
