Sending big hugs to Nic and everybody else who is having a hard time at the moment.
Sorted out my bedroom today and found 2 unopened rolls of extra wide Winnie the Pooh wrapping paper I bought for last year and didn't use. That's DD sorted for this year anyway. Thinking about wrapping her stuff now and then I will have made a dent in the wrapping! I do enjoy doing it but it took me 2 days straight last year as I left it late. Vowed that I'd spread it out more this year!Savings Account - £0.00

Got some shopping done today, went to another town that excitingly has a B&M and a Primark (And a Wilkos but we had too many bags by then - my friend's shopping not mine) but sadly the Primark had hardly any onesies and none in DD's size. Got lots of stocking fillers though0

SO excited! Ive convinced OH it would be easier to put up tree this Saturday as Im trying to do as much overtime as possible and this is my first weekend off in 4 weeks and might be working the following weekend as I need to pay for OH birthday presents by next month hehe. Plus I have my sister and her OH calling round on Saturday to lift the old tree from the attic which they are going to have in their new home together so said it would be nice if they came to a tidy and christmassy house to have lunch
Ive also to get the hampers on Saturday which I buy from a wholesaler near us every year (works out about £3 or £4 for the biggest hamper downwards!) and Im going to be good and go to the gym too. Im determined to shift another half a stone before the new year!
Think I will do a bit more wrapping on Saturday night, Ive done about 5 presents so far but would much rather do it when the tree and stockings are up so they go striaght to their rightful place
Just need some snow forecast now and we're setLife is what you make it.0 -

I know what you mean about people who often dont care what they give people for christmas. This year im afraid to say some of those in my & OH life is getting some of this back.
Last year my OH got s gift from his brother. Who knows full well he could use the product (According to MIL ) Neither of them can, So OH kindly said thanks for it, But he wouldnt be using it because of this. Which triggered off a huge "man fit" from OH brother who complained that it took him ages to find it and that it has cost him a fortune & all that, For OH to see it was infact a poundl*and make, And cost £0.99p!
The price and place the items are brought from doesn't matter to most people, But just not caring or even taking the time to care does!!! Families ay!!
I do hate ungrateful people. However, I do get a bit annoyed if the OH and I spent x-amount and time on choosing someone a gift and we get an unthoughtful gift - often tat in return. :mad:Trying to save up for a deposit for a mortgage....could be a while!!
Comping since 15/06/2014 - thanks to all those who post the competitions ❤️😀0 -
Just ordered Santa Paws 2 from Disney Store for £6.99, cheapest anywhere! Free delivery if you join Disney Movie Rewards and get a code.
Going to put it in the Xmas Eve hamper!
Ds asked me on the way home if Santa was real! He said all 4 of the other children on his table said he wasnt and its your mum and dad who do it! I felt so sad as they are only 7 and thought Id have at least until next year before kids in his class started saying that! I mustered up as much bewilderment as possible and said why would it be parents when they give their children presents already? (I know some people do all from Santa but we do stocking and 1 present from Santa and rest under tree from us) I couldnt say well they wont get presents if they dont believe as if they all tell each other what they got in January it will be obvious they did get presents lol. DS said he told them he must be real because of santas reindeer being on reindeercam.com (THANKYOU THANKYOU to whoever posted that!!) and I said (relieved!) Exactly i couldnt have set up a website with reindeer could I! I was desperately clutching at straws lol but DS seemed to forget about it quickly so phew! Extra helpings of christmas magic this year I think!'They only had one cow!'0 -

 Oh no!!!!!!! That is sooooo sad, my boys are 7 and 5 and still firmly believe but it really makes me feel sad that they too will have doubts some time in the 'not too distant' future. Sending you hugs and well done on facilitating a swift turn around of his query! x x x0 -
nic - so sorry to hear of your loss, my thoughts are with you (hugs)
thanks for all the support regarding sdd situation. up until a few months back the girls always wanted to come, it was their mother that was the constant obsticle. she had a baby with her latest partner in march, and since then, i think the girls feel theyre missing out by coming to us (and im pretty sure their mother will make it obvious to them that they will be missing out - she's that spiteful!). But the main problem we have is that they are both so materialistic, to be fair dh didnt help himself in the early years, as mother has always lived off benefits & "claimed" to not have any money, so dh & i always bought their clothes, paid for school trips & spoilt them best we could, and now, unfortunatly, thats all they want from us. Im just really pleased we havent raised our dd's that way, dont get me wrong, they never go without & do get spoilt silly at xmas, but they know the value of money, know its only cos mummy & daddy work so hard that we can afford nice things, and they are always happiest just having a family night in with a movie & popcorn. We have struggled through his ex / sdd's for 10 years now, and as hard as it is for me to say it, i really think its time for him to say enough is enough, come see is if you like, but come to spend time with us cos you aint getting anything other than our time & love (he pays a stupid ammount of maintanace each month so its not as if they need anymore money from us anyhow).
Sorry, long post but just got off phone to dh again & really fed up with how hurt/upset they keep making him/us.
On a lighter note...still looking for box ideas for advent, thinking maybe little snowman paper bag type things but cant find a template anywhere :rudolf:It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -
