Hello
A bit off topic, but my baby will be one on the 24th December-so xmas eve! Does anyone have any ideas on something I could make or buy for him, that will make his day special (I am worried xmas will take over if that makes sense). I am counting this xmas as his first-as we had a rough start to his real 1st one (my older son was in hospital for a week, then I was ill soon after giving birth so it went by in a fuzzy blur sadly).
We plan to have a family party/get together the weekend before the big day to make it special for him (and us). But not sure what special present I could have for him. I have already made both my boys a simple bag with their names on, but they're for xmas day.
Not sure if anyone can help? just sitting here wondering.....
keely.
awww my dd2's birthday is boxing day so know how you are feeling. I've always treated her day like it was in the middle of the year, so she'd get the normal bday pressie and we'd have family over for a party tea/birthday cake ... A friend of mine, little boy bday is xmas eve and he has his gift and chooses tea then its christmas.. they always celebrate his bday really in summer, i can't do that lol.
As far as a gift .. umm errr. will have to think on that one! lol a personalised teddy?Totally debt free wohooo 2014

Waiting till hubby gets home then I'm popping out to try and get some selection boxes at Mr T's (Picking up some for a friend as well)
Disappointed
Got to Tesco hoping to get 6 boxes...headed to the display, right behind a couple who were just clearing the shelves of about 30 selection boxes. Asked a member of the staff and they didn't have any left in stock at all
On the upside, I went to B&M and got EShaw mints at 1.99 a box, and dairy milk bars/gloves for santa chocs. Also got green/red/whte candy canes, a couple of xmas wind socks and some xmas pudding baublesbossymoo, I find the best way to do it, is to gather what I think I'll be able to do in the time I've got, pop the kettle on, hot up a mince pie, put on some Christmassy music & not answer the phone.
I try to see it as a little treat to me
Me too. I actually like wrapping. I will have Christmas music or film on while working through it all.
I don't start till the tree is up though. That way family gifts go straight underneath, and only the kids ones need to go back up the loft.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. With the Tesco 3 for 1 selection boxes, is it any and all of the selection boxes, or just a specific type?:rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf:0

Hello all!
I'm watching a Are You Being Served xmas special on Y*uTube atm lol. I've grouped a few different xmas specials into a playlist, including the wonderful 2.4 Children episodes. Makes for a nice festive watch.
I've been experimenting a bit with my wrapping paper.
Not sure about the kraft paper thus far. It is good quality and I do like it, but I'm not sure how I could dress it up. I'm thinking I might use little chocolate santas at some point [once I've decided on a ribbon type]. We'll see.
I really like the silver and black paper though. That was £1.47 a roll from Mr T. Instead of bows, which always seem to fall off or get squished, I'm using chocolate coins. I've just stacked them [three per present]. I think they look alright. And, they were reasonably priced. I've got enough coins for 24 presents [plus spare 'big' coins - around 9 spares] for £2.
I still have another roll to use and some tags I found that I think work with it [despite not matching].
I love wrapping presents.0 -

With the Tesco 3 for 1 selection boxes, is it any and all of the selection boxes, or just a specific type?
I think it is only the 'medium' Cadbury's boxes. They have been 2 for £3 in various shops [including Mr T] for quite a while.
Last year, there was a glitch. The glitch meant that some of the more expensive boxes were included, so that was fab. But, I've not heard any such reports of that this year.0 -

I like the Kraft paper, looks good! I bought a couple of packets of jingle bells out of Poundland the other day to help with finishing touches. They are away in a cupboard just now so from memory there are about eight or ten in a pack, they are Xmas decorations to hang on your tree but I thought they would look nice with my luggage label tags maybe? They are in packs and are red and white in the one pack. If I have time over the weekend I will try and wrap one of the kids pressies to show you what it all looks like. Hopefully I will find everything...it's all squirrelled away in different cupboards.0 -
to those of you buying chocolate advent calendars once you are finished with them the plastic in the middle would make a great chocolate mold.
That is such a fab idea! I am going to try that.Morning AllBig thanks to everyones wonderful ideas in this thread, I spent yesterday baking baileys fudge, chocolate slabs, hot chocolate spoons and chocolate fudge, I brought them in to work to practise peoples reactions to taste, design and how I wrapped it. They love it so much a few people have asked how much I charge!! Great feeling. Going to sort out family hampers later today and work out what all else I need and of course actually order the baskets from ebay!
I am going to try some of these ideas for xmas presents too! the fudge, choc slabs and I am going to do honeycombe. Could anyone please tell me how long you would reccomend the chocolate, fudge and honeycombe would stay fresh for, and is cellophane the best thing to wrap it in??
I am loving this thread, I cant get enough of it, nor do I ever keep up. Please keep the idea's coming, it is making my christmas better everytime I read this thread.0 -

Thank you both!
The whole 3 for 1 area was empty when I looked today so I couldn't tell what had actually been there.:rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf:0 -

Our store had hundreds of boxes at the entrance, but none on the shelves. I walked straight past them and then looked a real idiot when I asked a cashier if they had any, and he pointed at them.0
