Grrrrr Marks and Spencers have thwarted my plans to knock some more of the xmas shopping on the head - they cancelled one of my toy items and now they have no Christmas Tree tins in store but you can buy them on line at £10 !!0

We have considered Oscar, George and then Lucas but then decided on Levan - but EVERYONE hated it, which wouldn't have worried me so much except it got so easily mocked - backwards it spells navel and when we told people the name they would say "eleven like the number" and it became so infuriating that we just couldn't use it.
So now we are debating Franklin - Hubby is pretty much certain he loves the name, he likes shortening it to Frank which I don't mind as it's a family name, I know that I will end up calling him Frankie and using his full name when he is naughty :rotfl: or I want his full attention LOL I prefer the longer version but I am terrible for shortening names - My husband is Michael and he spent his whole life correcting people when they shortened it and gave up when I came along I call him Mike and now so do all my family :rotfl: Mine is also a long name which gets shortened. I think I like Franklin I am 99% certain but my brain just cant figure out if he is going to be mocked for it or if it is plain enough that there are no jokes about it but different enough that there wont be 10 in his class. I am more worried i think about how other people will respond to it
I call my hubby Spud lol and this baby has been little spud all along, the most funny thing is hubby for ages wanted to call him Edward (as in king edward spuds!!!) :rotfl:
I know there will be people who don't like it, when we told MIL we were considering Lucas her face was so annoyingI wanted to slap it, she looked like she was chewing sour lemons and it just put me right off. I know it shouldn't bother me but when people are so blatant it does.
(oh p.s middle names are 100% decided as Robert John)
I love the name Levan, we didnt know the sex of our DS we chose William and Constance (Connie for short) EVERYONE hated Constance but it didnt deter me.
The last week of my pregnancy we changed our minds to George for a boy and Constance for a girl and we had a boy :-)0 -

That was me and that really is a bargain!! Now need to think where my nearest one is lol great thanks if they are suitable and my store sells them thats a saving of over £8!!
If you can't find any let me know and I'll happily pick up a pack and put them in the post. Is it boys or girls you are after? They are flat pack but both boxes also come with lids. For 59p they're perfect and there about twice the size of a shoe box.
I'm planning on picking some more up to cover in christmas paper for the two hampers I'm doing cause they're the perfect size for it.
Chirpchick - My DS was born nameless :rotfl: He was baby 'lastname' for his entire stay in the maternity ward!
Then when I got home he remained nameless for about 2 weeks as I was so unsure. I thought i'd settled on a name but I just never *felt* like it was right and then on the morning I was due to go and register him I was sat with him in my parents conservatory and I just looked at him and I suddenly felt like I just knew what the right name was. So I went and registered him with the name I'd decided on literally that same hour.
My point is, there's no rush to make such a life long decision now. You have plenty of time and sometimes when you see your lovely little baby, you'll just *know* what his name is
DS doesn't have a common name, In fact it's quite unusual but everyone loves it and always comments on it, But don't let anyone else's stupidity have any bearing on your choices. He's your baby, no one else's
hismissus - Thanks for letting me know about water colours wrinkling the paper, I never thought of that. I am using permenant ink. I've found a fairly cheap set of water colours on amazon so I think I'll give those a try on the gift tags I'm making and just use the coloured inks I've got for the wrapping paper
I'm also feeling like a bit of a pleb today! I was looking at that 'festive fivers' link that was posted in the early hours of this morning as I couldn't sleep and I just thought it was a thread for people to give other people idea's about gifts for under a fiver! So i posted in it! I didn't really read the first post by MSE DEBS (i think thats right?!) because if I'm being honest, they're usually just full of nonsense- I've just had another look in the cold light of day and realised it's on the competitions board!
Ive never been on the competitions board in my life lol. Oh well. That'll teach me for staying up past witching hour on the blimmin' internet!
I think I'm going to stay in my Pj's all day today. I've still not got dressed and it's the afternoon now, So I may as well admit to myself that It's never going to happen :rotfl:
In my defence, It is absolutely freezing cold and I think it's the thought of having the get undressed and making myself shiver that I'm avoiding.Having a coke with youis even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona0 -

M&S have 20% off selected homeware and it includes the Christmas cushions! finally gave in to the chenille reindeer, £9.60 free store delivery
I have a couple of friends who were convinced what their were calling their children, only to literally change it on the way to the regitery office! one sent her hubby and he registered a different name to the one they agreed, but he definately suits his name
I love unusual names, I think Levan is lovely but it should be totally your choice0 -
Well my eldest DS is Destiny Marita , so I could hardly chose something like Janet for the second, so Faith it was.
BTW I let my older four children chose my youngest DS's names so he is George Henry Angel Sid!
When I was expecting Dd, Ds (who was 3) told everyone we where going to have a baby 'Jeffrey' be it boy or girl. We have no idea where he got the name from. Obviously I didn't name her it. Even I'm not that cruel.0
